I really hate the fact that Sheva scored their equaliser. Someone that we really miss on our team and will probably be the reason why we're out tomorrow because we don't have someone like him.

whats with the pessimism? i hate that. please dont say that we'll probably be out tomorrow. bad bad words.

@ripado...how can we possibly say we'll reach the semis tomorrow, and be honest with ourselves...a different season maybe, but this season, we have been really poor. Relatively speaking of course.

Completely agreed. Look on the bright-side!

Their keeper was superb, chances of Khan playing like Rensing did? Very slim.

How so ?? Actually Kahn will be looking for revenge. What S7 and Pippo did to him last season, they totally owned him. I think he'll have a good game tomorrow.

Why are some fan pessimistic ? Because we drew a tie where we could have won, but that was on our turf .. Away ?? I don't know, had we won the first leg, I would have been along with many others VERY optimistic

Yes sad.gif

In the 1/8 he scored the important away goal and gave the winning assist at home. Today at the 1/4 goal and assist.
*

Even though I'm a firm believer that this season our problem have been far more deeper then the fact that we lost Sheva, it connot be ignored that we miss him, even though we have now improved a lot mainly because we brought in a guy that is at the same level as he is.

And it's really killing me seeing him help Chelsea probably win the CL this season.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Apr 10 2007, 09:10 PM)
@han .. For Roma it is an accomplishment to play in the quarters ... But they didn't cave under pressure, they were humiliated !

That is the type of score line that made the game unwatchable !!! I started out watching the match but after 5-0 .. I couldn't watch it anymore.
*

No I don't agree with you there. Roma had a really good chance of going through, they took out Lyon from the competition, which imo was probably the toughest side in the whole competition.

You could see that they had just totally caved in under the pressure, this mainly comes from inexperiance and also, as you pointed out, the fact that their coach doesn't come close to what Furgusen has achieved and all the experiance he has.

Roma came out with the wrong mentality and after conceeding their first goal they seemingly bowed down and let Utd have their way with them.

Not pessimism, just realism. If you think we can go to Munic and win then good for you, I admire your optimism but this season's Milan hasn't won ONE SINGLE game against a decent team, what makes you think they will do it tomorrow in Munic?

We're in good form in the league, mainly because of Ronaldo and Gila building a good partnership with eachother. And most imporatantly because of Ronaldo who has helped us in so many ways since he came.

But the CL is a totally different thing. If Kaka has an off night then we have no chance, period.

I sure didn't

Chelsea gave me a bit of hope that we could somehow overturn the first leg result but then I remembered that they have Sheva and we don't.
Rossoneri7
No Roma didn't bow down, Roma were caught in every move they tried. SAF's tactics totally dominated that of Spaletti. (After Man U scored the first goal, Roma's inexperience showed yes ur right .. But it wasn't just that )

Lyon that we played last season are not the same one this season, they didn't have the same vigor and attitude as they did last season. While Roma introduced a new game play (4-1-4-1) and dominated. But SAF was behind Man U's win, also I think to some degree the venue had a factor to play too.

Roma's fans are pr!cks but so are some of United's so don't excuse them...

----------------------------------

It's good for the EPL that 3 team are in the semis. It's bad for English football that all of them combined don't even have 5 English players in their starting line-ups!

Great United tonight. It was the first time in my life I virtually pinched myself to see if I'm awake! I really like Carrick!! Great display tonight, he opened the scoring then made a great pass for the second, then an amazing shot. A very poor Roma though. They didn't have the mentality to get into such an encounter. They were frightened and you could nearly see them trembling. Chivu and Mexes... they were awful tonight! Mexes was mediocre in Rome too but I didn't expect such a performance from the Romanian; I believe (and even Portugal will agree on this) that Kaladze would have played better!! Well done to United (sorry kurtsimonw but they deserve it)!! CR is f@cking frightening with ball on his feet...

Although I really have to say something here. I'm not joking about this. Even the biggest EPL fan should not be willing to see two English teams in Athens come May. I honestly fear this is going to be Hazell (or is it Heyzel? Which one is the chick's name?) all over again. You certainly don't want a United vs Liverfool fans match-up in down town Athens. I'd really rather the Final was canceled. The Greek police is the worst one in the whole world and if those two meet each other there's going to be some serious trouble. I already said I'm not kidding, you should believe me. Unless we import some English cops with horses and stuff there's gonna be a slaughter out there. But UEFA already know that so don't be surprised if you see some weird refereeing in United's semi-final games...

The only thing that makes me happy about the whole violence thing is that Platini's era looks darker day by day...

Haha, this is one of the things about English football I've never really got to grips with. I think how it stands currently is Manchester United on paper are about £650 million in debt. However since Glazier has been in charge the club's value has increased meaning lenders will easily invest in this.

It's still a huge debt though, and yes Glazier did loan a substantial amount of it (I'm not sure how much or what percent). The Manchester United fans or most oppose/d the move due to they realised how would the debt be paid, through their pockets came to mind, higher ticket prices, merchandise etc. There were also rumors about Old Trafford being renamed to accommodate a massive sponsorship money deal to pay back a large chunk of the debt, this really annoyed the United fans why should their stadium be renamed?

No one really knows anymore what United will get for transfers, you imagine they will get some but no where near what they used to due to winning trophies and revenue being put back to pay the annual £60 million of debt, if they don't it could be the worse decline of a football team ever.

Whilst things are going fine now, if they stop winning and hit a few rocky seasons like previously it could be big trouble for United. I do think this would be hugely unlikely though, people are always going to follow United and put money into the club like they do Barca and Real Madrid and I think Glazier is aware of this.

The hatred has died down slightly, but I for one certainly think Glazier isn't in this for the love of football, it's an investment he's not a football man he's a business man. Unfortunately for REAL football fans that's a bad sign when there clubs are used like this, fair enough if they have the money but if they don't well, Leeds United comes to mind...

Nice post dude.

Just about the rename, I mean... a sponsor-name = $$$. Some more millions per year... and that's what matters. Sooner or later that's going to happen with United, Liverpool, Chelsea... just like the "Emirates" thing in L'Arsenal.

Yeah it will, I guess Old Trafford is like the San Siro and Nou Camp though just so well known, whereas with Arsenal once they left Highbury, Ashburton Grove didn't have any ring to it as it was brand new so they thought we may as well just call it The Emirates.

I guess most fans would come to terms with it if the club said well we will have the money to buy the likes of Villa and Ronaldinho or something, however the United fans are 95% sure a rename would just be to pay back the debt.

Ranieri offers Milan support

Thursday 12 April, 2007

Claudio Ranieri has rejected suggestions that he is supporting former club Chelsea in the Champions League. “I will be cheering for Italy,” the Parma tactician told Datasport this evening.

The London club qualified for the semi-finals of the competition this week after defeating another of Ranieri’s ex-clubs in the shape of Valencia, but he’s ready to forget his Stamford Bridge past to spur on Milan.

“I think that Milan can get past Manchester United in the semi-finals,” continued the Coach. “They’ve been one of the favourites since the very start.

“That is why I will say that Milan have what is needed in their squad to even beat this Manchester United team.”

The latter strolled into the last four thanks to a 7-1 thrashing of Roma at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

“As a Roman myself, it was very disappointing,” Ranieri continued. “All I can say is that it will serve them as experience to the city, the squad and [Coach Luciano] Spalletti.

“Now they must just forget what happened and look ahead.”

The fact that the Premiership has three clubs in the semi-finals hasn’t gone unnoticed by Ranieri, but he’s confident that Italian sides will strike back.

“It’s significant that three English teams are there,” he added. “Their football is full of money, but what goes around comes around.

“I think Italian clubs can return to a certain level and I’m optimistic. A few clubs are picking themselves up and we just need a little time.”

Doesn't werder bremen have b-win?

Because I don't see why we should get fined when Bremen also got b-win.

It's no worries really, we advanced over a German team into the semi finals, which means a LOT of millions from the CL again.
