So the FA has charged Chelsea with failing to control its players and its asst. coach for some sort of naughtiness too.

What do people think about this? Were the players provoked by bad calls? Did MU buy the ref? Should John Terry have been charged for trying to pull the red card out of the ref's hand?
*

Of course they were provoked. Wouldn't you be? Mike Dean was a totall disgrace. And Yes, United bought that SOB.

As soon as the ref makes a call against them they circle him and try to be intimidating.

Every team complainsafter some calls, but even if Chelsea went a little bit further this time, because of the circumstances, it's understandable.

Some EPL scores.

-Man City 3-1 Newcastle in the earky kick-off.
-Chelsea 0-0 Fulham - I wouldn't get carried away with this result, it is a big derby game afterall.
-Wigan 0-1 Liverpool, Benayoun with the goal on '75.
-Portsmouth 7-3 Reading. CRAZY!
-Derby 1-1 Bolton. Anelka scores again for Bolton.
-Sunderland 1-2 Blackburn. Santa Cruz and Bentley with 2 goals in 2 minutes for Rovers.
-West Ham 0-1 Arsenal. RvP with an early goal, well done Arsenal. smile.gif
-Birmingha sh!tty and United kick-off at 5:15 GMT

Edit: ANOTHER goal at Fratton Park. Portsmouth 7-4 Reading. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Boom went the West Ham boogy.
Strong header from Van Persie on a cross from Hleb.

I thought things may change for Sheva, but the fans were really booing him off, really bad.

The 11 goal Fratton Park thriller is apparently the highest scoring game in EPL history. rolleyes.gif

The guy in the #7 jersey playing for Chelsea doesn't even look like the same guy who wore it for Milan. I watched the game (hahahaha Drogba red!) and it's just sad the way he's unable to play to the level that he's capable of.

It is very sad, I think it's best for him if he leaves. It doesn't matter what he does anymore, everyone just labels him a waste of money.

I think I'll have to start liking Arsenal a bit more, they're the only team that'll stop United I reckon. C'mon the Gunners!

.....wow.

I honestly thought Spurs were going to have a decent (if not very good) season. This is just shocking. They're in the drop zone now, I think.

All credit to Villa, though. They're playing quite well (Kurt, you've got another convert.) and will go to...5th (is this right, Kurt?) assuming they do win this game.

4-4.. I can't believe this, the biggest throw away in our history?

Stupid 2nd goal, a really silly penalty to give away. 4th goal we just couldn't clear it, Kaboul hit the top corenr.

If they keep on playing their type of football with a sense of fighting spirit, the top 3 might take some points off of them, but it wont stop them IMO. I say this because, they have a great manager and a team (though lacks experience..) that has understanding between the players.

Last season, these guys managed really well to deal with the top teams, and they were not even at their best, mentally.

Don't say inexperienced yet. They're young, but they've been there and done almost everything. From losing matches they should have won, to snatching victory at the last possible moment.

They also have a lot of heart now, not to lose hope, and at the same time not to back away from a scrappy match. If ever the old Arsenal had a problem, this was it, they'd dumped too many players coz they were old, but these were the hard men.

Now that's not the case any longer. I really love seeing Arsenal play. I used to love Newcastle, but Allardyce has f@cked with my team, and even Owen is not enough to drag me back.

So go gunners....and ermm...Villa, if it's not too difficult.
Rossoneri7
^^^

They do play beautiful football king.gif

Problem is, they would choke on the BIG stage. Give them a make or break match, they would really choke! That is where experience comes in to play ... They have definitely gained a lot from playing together and their coach is one whom I rate very highly.

So ur a Villa fan too .. My God, what ? Is Armageddon tomorrow or something tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Jack is the man. cool.gif

And for what it's worth. 8 players in our starting lineup yesterday were English, and we're 5th. Only 2 of those 8 are over 23. king.gif

About Arsenal, I hated them ALOT the last few years, mainly due to Henry and his attitude problem. With him gone, I find myself liking them alot more. I'd rather them win the league than United anyways, they play much better football, too!
kurtsimonw
Just over half an hour played at Arsenal.

2-1 Gooners with a good goal from RvP and Senderos. Ross Wallace pulled one back though.

EDIT: Few minutes into the 2nd half. Kenwyne Jones, 2-2. ohmy.gif

EDIT 2: RvP with his 2nd, 3-2. 10 minutes to go.
Jack Sparrow
Right Arsenal win 3-2....have they thrown away Henry only to develop an RvP addiction?

Few things I've noticed...

Fabregas's weak foot seemed useless for anything but the short pass.
I was wrong about Adebayor, this guy has got something about him.
Walcott is driving me nuts...one second he'll be something big, one second he's still got alot to learn.

And Spurs against Scousers...1-1....

A bit of a Robinson boo-boo, and Voronin took advantage.
Good linkup between Berbatov and Keane just before halftime to equalise.

EDIT: 50 mins 1-2 Spurs ohmy.gif Different kind of link up Berbatov and Keane

laugh.gif At tottenham. They really are an enigma, one of those teams whose league standings(not just this season) has anything to do with their team quality. Almost like inter in that respect.

On their night, they could beat anybody.

In the current squad, I think the quality of their strikers is not balanced by their mid-field. And of course their defence. Otherwise I'd say they have the best striker pairing in the EPL.

So far..
-As good as teams like Man City are doing, we'll be seeing the regular top 4 at the end of the season.
-Man City, Villa and Newcastle look good for the UEFA Cup, due to very strong home form.
-Arsenal vs United for the title. 'Fortress Anfield' never really worked out, terrible home record.
-Derby are getting relegated. 5 away games, 5 away defeats, 17 goals conceeded, 0 scored. Awful, just awful.
Rossoneri7
Though they are forth in the standings ... Liverpool are not living up to their hype !!

They have strengthened an already strong team, but are finding it difficult to win. Maybe in the long run they will do better, but seeing Arsenal and United already rivaling each otehr for the EPL title. liverpool will have to wake up soon, or else they wont be in the race come mid season.
Jack Sparrow
It's the rotation policy. It's one thing to have depth in the squad, but if he does insist on playing different players, then he must use similar tactics. Or if we wants to use different tactics, he should try using a similar set of players.

The problem is that these guys will(might) take too long to get into a good understanding. And by that time, the other teams would have gone far ahead.

I was ...I was. Stop talking like a nagging girlfriend!

I was just trying to point out, your wishlist lately's been consisting of people who are not really gonna be easy to get.

RvP is Arsenal's new icon now, him and Fabregas. And Villa is Valencia's treasure. Both of them want to stay there, and won't move till at least they win something big. And both clubs are the type of clubs that are always threatening to do something huge, but fall agonizingly close to their goal.

It's just that it isn't like you. You're usually very practical. Like last time you wanted a player like Nelson. A guy who plays for a decent club, but who is both 'economically' and technically feasible.

Ajax Release Ten Cate, Chelsea Beckons

Ajax have released manager Henk ten Cate to Chelsea this afternoon, where he is expected to work alongside manager Avram Grant.

Following a week of speculation, news filtering through the wires is breaking that Ajax have confirmed that Henk ten Cate has been released as manager after reaching an agreement Chelsea.

In the last few moments Ajax released a statement which read: “In talks with Chelsea, Ajax have reached agreement with the English club about the immediate transfer of Henk ten Cate to the London-based side.

“After being approached by Chelsea, Henk ten Cate asked the Ajax management last week permission to start negotiations with the Premier-League side. After internal deliberations, Ajax granted permission.

“It is now up to Chelsea and Henk ten Cate to finalise the deal together. Ajax do not expect this to take much time.”

The news confirms reports that began last week when ten Cate’s agent Sigi Lens told The Sun: “It’s true we have an agreement with Chelsea. It’s an opportunity for him, a challenge for him to work with a big team and work with Avram Grant to build a new team.”

Lens added: “Chelsea want to take the coach now so if there is an agreement between the two clubs everything will be clear.

“The will is there from both parties for Henk to start straight away.

“Henk does not want to wait until the end of the season, he wants to come now but it depends on how Ajax are going to react.”

With these statements in mind, Ajax seem to be correct when they suggested an agreement between Chelsea and ten Cate wouldn’t take long.

With money not an issue, the sticking point could be with the length of the contract, and the specific role the former Barcelona assistant will play.

The international break will serve as the perfect opportunity for ten Cate and manager Avram Grant to formulate a plan of action to get Chelsea’ season back on track.

Insiders believe it was ten Cate who was the architect of the current Barcelona team, working as Frank Rijkaard’s assistant. He is thought to be taking a similar role at Stamford Bridge.

I don't think RVP would leave Arsenal anytime soon .. Maybe after 3 more seasons .. But not anytime soon. After all, Wenger needs someone upfront to handle the pressure and Adibayor isn't enough (though he is a great striker)

Official: Chelsea Complete Henk Ten Cate Capture

Henk Ten Cate has finally completed his much anticipated, much speculated move to Chelsea.

Chelsea had successfully managed to agree terms with Ajax for Ten Cate's release, and have now completed the paperwork to bring the Dutchman to Stamford Bridge.

Said a statement released by the club: "Chelsea can confirm that Henk ten Cate has joined as assistant first-team coach."

He will be an assistant to Avram Grant, as will Steve Clarke, who has also been offered a new deal to make him feel wanted.

It is understood that the objective is to bring to the coaching team an understanding of the European game, and in particular, the Champions League.

Ten Cate was in charge of much of the tactical work at Barcelona, including during their 2005-06 Champions League winning season, and that has not been lost on the Blues, particularly with Roman Abramovich having made no secret of his desire to win the big European prize.

His career as a head coach fails to inspire too much confidence - he has coached over ten clubs in various capacities.

However, his work behind the scenes at Barcelona was nothing short of phenomenal, and Frank Rijkaard has faced questions over tactics and squad management ever since the departure of his assistant last summer.
