I've known Freddy Adu since he was about 13, Landon Donovan was very young when he first became noticed as well.

80% of people here don't even know who the f@ck Freddy Adu is... 3 years ago when I was in high school, in our match practices (varsity team) kids wore all these jersey from Major European teams (Milan, Inter, Barca, Man U) and they didn't have the slightest idea about any of them...
During the World Cup, I was the only one who actually followed the U.S national team in our frat. And the ones that watched a couple of games were in it for the "insane tackles" (fouls)...
And the best part, when Juventus is playing, they wonder why there are bunch of referees running around in the field...
There might be a hype that soccer is becoming big here, but that's just horseshit. Cause at the end of the day, Americans don't get this sport. It's different growing up here for boys. Girls, yeah... That's their number one sport. But guys? I mean I go to the University of Minnesota, number 4 university in the country in terms of enrollment. We get major funding and attention for most of our teams, but when it comes to soccer? There is this guy who trains these people and if we can find a goalie, we might play some games...
America doesn't need to discover soccer, they already did and said: Meh...
