Milan Eye Up Amauri

The agent of Palermo striker Amauri has confirmed that Milan are interested in signing his client but says there are also two other big European clubs sniffing around.

Amauri has not been at his best this season after recovering from a serious injury obtained last season. The ex-Chievo hitman hit eight goals in his first 18 Serie A matches last campaign and was winning the plaudits of the whole peninsula.

However a serious knee injury picked up in December against Siena put the player out for eight months. The 27-year-old has since returned and Milan are said to be lining up a move in order to bolster their forward-line.

“Milan are not the only side who are chasing him as there are also two other important European clubs who are interested,” Amauri's agent, Mariano Grimaldi noted.

“It is also true that I will be in Milan over the next few days, but let me be clear about this – Palermo come first for the player right now.

“We have a good relationship with President Maurizio Zamparini and if the club find themselves in the Champions League next season then there will be no problem in continuing the rapport.”

Zamparini recently admitted that he is powerless to let Amauri go at some point in the near-future.

“It will be difficult to keep hold of Amauri if he repeats his level of performance from last year,” the fiery President admitted.

It appears to me he's nothing special. there's no guarantee he can solve our goal-scoring problem. he's got an awful goal-scoring record btw.

Drogba's the man!

Not worth it IMO.

not worth. Drogba, Huntelaar, Bianchi or Anelka. If we got 30miliion for sheva then why the hell havent we used it.

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini insists that Brazilian striking star Amauri won’t leave the Stadio Renzo Barbera for less than £20m.

The ex-Chievo man has been winning admirers with his ruthless finishing and has been strongly linked with Milan as the Rossoneri struggle to find the net.

“Amauri isn’t for sale and I wouldn’t want to sell him,” Zamparini told Politica nel Pallone.

“It would take a fee similar to the one Liverpool paid for Fernando Torres. I don’t think that Amauri is any less of a player than Torres.

“A Palermo side in the Champions League will need him and I don’t want to repeat what happened to Luca Toni.

“When Toni decided he wanted to leave I begged Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani to sign him so he wouldn’t go to one of our rivals, but instead he went to Fiorentina.

“It doesn’t matter anyway because I think that Milan have other targets. Maybe they will go for another Riccardo Oliveira
.”

Toni ....

what does he mean by another Ricardo Oliveira?

From this, it doesn't seem like he likes Galliani. I think he's basically calling him an idiot. tongue.gif

When Toni left Palermo for the Viola we still had Sheva, Pippo, and were going all out for Gila then.

During that time the whole forum was against Toni coming to Milan. EVERYONE wanted a young player like Gilardino .. Now ur calling him an idiot rolleyes.gif

Geez

Toni to Fiorentina and Gila to Mila happened before this forum existed. Forget that, we could have signed him this summer easily.

Is he seriously comparing between Torres and Amauri? rolleyes.gif
fresh_prince7
Hahaha, great comparison.

In that case we should buy amauri and swap him for torres.

Zlatan and torres, two huge players we missed out on.
Jack Sparrow
We didn't miss out on Zlatan per se. We wanted him, but for once it wasn't our fault.

He couldn't wait till the calciopoli verdict, and Inter swooped.

And Torres, I'll be honest hasn't impressed me much. He's already been injured twice, and has scored a few goals. But I think it fair to say, that Berbatov made a bigger impression in his debut season.

Oh and they've said Amauri is not going anywhere for less than 29 mill Euros. Guess that'll be a relief.

Torres is not huge. He's a good player but in my list, Villa and Tevez were and are ranked higher than him!

And even if I didn't want Zlatan at that time, it proves out that it was a big misfortune that we did not get him!

Villa is better than Torres, but Tevez is average at best. He shouldn't be starting for a team like United, West Ham was more his level.

I wish we'd have got one of Toni or Zlatan though. And now look at what they're both doing.

Tevez > Torres? No way. At least IMO.

Torres is twice the player Tevez is. And he'll be a starter in a top-PL team for many years (Liverpool). Tevez... I doubt. Somehow I think United will sign a decent inbox-striker like Huntelaar and send Tevez back to West Ham or any mid-table team in PL.

Tevez should be in Serie A, not in EPL.

Villa? He's 26. Torres and Tevez are 23. But yes, at the moment he's better. Although for the EPL I think Torres has the characterics/skills to suceed unlike Villa or Tevez: tall, strong + speed, tecnique, bla bla etc.

In fact I think Fernando Torres will be the best foward of his generation.

Then it's not a very good (football-wise) generation...

Maybe he will come good I don't know... but till now he has not amazed me. He had one great season with Atletico and a good World Cup in '06 but he has been mediocre in Liverpool and in the other competitions he's played in

I hope he proves you wrong... unless he leaves Liverpool!

In the last 5 seasons in La Liga, Fernando Torres was the 3rd best goalscorer - in a team like Atletico.
Only David Villa and Eto'o (26 years old both, +3 than Torres) have a better record.

TBH I think this says it all.
Rossoneri7
Torres is one of the most underrated players atm ... Wait till he gets used to the high paced game of the EPL ... He'll knock them in by the dozen(s) smile.gif
dst
Torres used to take all the penalties at Atletico... he doesn't have a better record than Gila and I'm referring to Gila cause both came from teams that played FOR them not just with them...

Your not a fan of Torres(Especially because he is in Liverpool). Those of us who follow him and watch him often know what an amazing player he is and how much potential he has.

No I'm not a fan of him... he has great potential that's undeniable, I just think he is very inconsistent... maybe it's because of his age.

Anyway, I like him... I only said I think Villa and Tevez are better.
fresh_prince7
I would have loved to see torres wearing the red and black. He reminds me at time of sheva. His finishing has let him down so far in the premier league, I think over the next couple of seasons he'll develop into a brilliant striker. He has all the striker traits and once he settles completely to the premier league style, he should run riot.
Jack Sparrow
Torres who???

He starts with a A, ends with an R.....Score some more...Adebayooooorrrrrrrr! tongue.gif

Is Amauri actually better than gila right now? Cause if he isn't were not solving anything.

Amauri exit already agreed

Palermo striker Amauri will leave the Sicilian club at the end of the season, his agent has confirmed.

The Brazilian-born player is known to be on the transfer wish list of some of Europe’s biggest sides and a summer move is now inevitable.

“We already reached an agreement with Palermo in August that Amauri would be transferred to one of the big clubs in July of this year,” Vittorio Grimaldi told TV station Sport Italia this evening.

Although the representative admitted that Amauri – who could still play for Italy at Euro 2008 if he nets Italian citizenship – will be packing his bags, his destination is as yet unclear.

“Nothing has been decided yet,” continued Grimaldi. “The Spanish giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona, are courting him. In Italy, Milan and Juventus are in the frame.

“An agreement will only be ironed out in June, therefore only after the player is certain that he will be playing in the Champions League.”

The Rosanero, who signed the former Napoli player from Chievo Verona in the summer of 2006, are expected to demand a fee of around £16m.

Juventus recently confirmed their interest in the forward and they could offer a player plus cash deal for the South American.
