So, Kurt, when England do well it's only because of the players?smile.gif The coach had nothing to do with it at all (but it's his fault when they don't play well)?

No, it was the John Terry team talk that did it cool.gif

It was correct. They analysed it on BBC and put lines on the pitch and stuff, his foot was off.

Ooookay. Think it neatly absolves the wee lambs of taking any responsibility whatsoever for their performance or lack thereof (get all the credit, take none of the blame) and puts an impossible burden on the coach but if it makes you happy, go for it.
Jack Sparrow
Well that settles it. Donovan>Rooney. smoke.gif Go Yanks!

Now Warchant takes us all out for pizza and beer! biggrin.gif

Well people are happy to do the opposite (I honestly can't remember seeing someone on here credit the England players) then sure.

Say what you want about JT off the field, yet another dominant performance from him.

So did the BBC..

His foot wad off, there's no question about it. ESPN are American too, so..

Looks like Defoe was a solid change... I didn't see the game obviously so I don't know for sure. Nice job to England after seeing the highlights. Deserved

Wow, I was watching England-Slovenia and the moment the ref blew for full time they suddenly switched to the other game and the US players' celebrations. unbelievable!! what a heartbreak for Slovenia (so sorry il diavolo sad.gif ) but the US fought until the very and got what they deserved IMO. who would have thought they'd finish as group winners above England?

England-Germany, what a tie!
Fishdoll
Kurt, I'll give the English NT players credit when I think they deserve it. I have no problem doing that and will watch the replay of the game tonight with attention. I've just not seen any English players (aside possibly from Rooney) who really deserve a whole lot of praise.

kurtsimonw
Dracotis, what does the BBC being British have to do with anything? It was a decision in a game between the US/Algeria, how can we be bias? We just called it as it was, offside.
Jack Sparrow
Hee hee. ^^ biggrin.gif

@Kurt: I actually think this win is credit to Capello.

He rung in the changes, brought on Milner for the right wing, Defoe and Upson (who was forced, I admit).

Milner had a great game on the right wing MoTM for me. Defoe scored the winner, and could have had a hat trick with the chances he got. Upson made that top challenge right at the end which if he'd mistimed would have been a stone cold penalty.

And well I think it couldn't be more evident from Joe Cole's performance why Terry should STFU.
Dracoris
Well you called it wrong. What does ESPN being American have anything to do with it? You want to play dirty, we can play dirty.

Even Steve Mc-Whatever his name even called it onside. You can't get a more unbiased opinion than him. Sorry dude, I'll argue this til the dogs come home. It was clearly onsides. Clearly.

Them being American means they'll be biased towards the US team.

His foot was off, I've seen it a hundred times now and his foot is off.

The fact you say he was 'clearly' on shows you're just talking ****.

As for Capello, Jack. He only played Upson because he had to. For some reason he didn't play Milner against Algeria and Joe Cole ran out nearly 8 minues of the game at the end. laugh.gif
Jack Sparrow
In which time he managed to drive Fabio up the wall. Did you see him going ballistic? biggrin.gif

Well yeah..I did say Upson was forced. tongue.gif

No it wasn't...

You can clearly see that the Algerian player's foot is ahead of his. Anyway it shouldn't matter as the USA went through, but had there been no goal this would have brought outcry concidering the sh!t decision they had go against them in the previous match
CHU-LIP
I'm going to take back what I said to Dracoris. His foot was maybe a tiny little bit offside (that's why I called it offside), but they were on the same line more than anything. So I take back calling Dracoris bias in it.

Good thing USA goes through, because they haven't been the luckiest with the referee (they scored a 2-3 against Slovenia and there was 100% nothing going on). Happy for Michael Bradley! biggrin.gif Two times Man of the Match, right?
Dracoris
And the fact your disagreeing when I have CLEAR video evidence he's on, shows you're just talking ****. Just stop dude, you've lost this one.

Then I don't know what you're talking about, Rooney has been the worst England player to appear in all the games so far this World Cup, he really hasn't done anything aside from criticise the England fans after the Algeria game.

I've seen the video evidence repeatedly and his foot was offside when the ball was played. To say he was clearly onside is ridiculous. There's a reason this linesman won't be punished - because he's right. Anyways, we disagree, it was ultimately irrelevant anyways.

I was worried about playing the Germans in the next round, but if we play like we did today I don't think we should be frightened of anyone. We're hard to beat and hopefully continue to play well and create chances.
Jack Bauer

Best english group since the beatles biggrin.gif two goals in 3 games and not that far from relegation.

Congrats to US for the first place. Almost got robbed for the second game in a row.

Group B scenarios

Ghana to go through
*Win
*Draw
*Loss + Australia win (so long as the GD between Australia and Ghana doesn't swing in Australia's favour)

Germany to go through
*Win
*Draw + Serbia/Australia draw

Serbia to go through
*Win
*Draw + Ghana Win

Australia to go through
*Win + Ghana Win
*Win + Germany Win (so long as they GD between Australia and Ghana swings in Australia's favour)

I think that's right.
X-Offender
I really hope Germany win the group so they can face England.
han2503
Hopefully it will be Germany, Ghana in that order
kurtsimonw
Germany in the Ro16, Argentina in the QFs if we were to win? I'd take that. Sure it's nice to play 'lesser' teams. But World Cups are made when big rivals go at it in the knockouts, would be fantastic to watch.

I'm not asking for the linesman to be punished, mistakes happen its part of the game. Coulibaly was punished because he made 100 mistakes, for both teams. The ghost goal at the end just capped it all off. Sorry man, its right there, and everything points to on-sides. I just don't understand your will to keep arguing this, you are the only person, sports analysts included, that I've heard disagree with this. But, I will respect your judgement, and agree to disagree.
