Spain might miss Torres against Portugal because of dealing with cootees. Also Xabi Alonso isn't sure to be ready for the game.
Good chance Villa will be the only striker, that might be good news for my bet. Villa pwns Torres at the moment anyway...

I still don't get this Lahm fuss. He was horrible (defensively) in the knockout stages of Euro 2008 and had a horror show against Serbia. Going forward he's great.. but so it Aaron Lennon and I wouldn't want him at full back!
Though it's his going forward that worries me with us having Johnson at RB, though he's been great so far thus WC.

@ Locke
It's so obvious Chilean player's foot or knee touches Torres' right foot and then his right foot catches on his left foot and he goes down (it's also visible that Chilean player's movement is slightly changed because of the contact). if you can't see that or can't understand the nature of that foul, it's your problem. Torres didn't dive.
I think it's a prety obvious dive, don't know why you're trying to defend that as it's disgusting to see, the Chilean player wasn't anywere near him!!

Capello vs SloveniaI'm one of his bigger critics, but this is great to see. Sven and, to a lesser extent, McClaren barely showed any passion on the sidelines and it looks like they don't care. You can't say the same about Capello after seeing this, and to think Pearce's nickname is 'Psycho'.. I think Capello is taking that title away from him at this rate.

Yeah, nowhere near him. he's obviously 2 meters away from him. my bad.
Did you even care to read my post? if it was a dive, that means there is no contact whatsoever. so tell me, how come the Chile player 'slightly' loses his control exactly the same moment Torres trips and goes down? (his movement is not smooth). answer me this.
Carefully watch the 5th second of
this video, you will see that there is a contact between Chile player's right knee and Torres' right foot. Torres' foot somehow even turns after the contact.
Torres shouldn't have acted like he'd been shot, but it DEFINITELY was a foul and I'm ready to go to war with anyone who says it wasn't!!

He wasn't anywhere near him in the sense that he wasn't going in to foul him, he was just running behind him, also yes there was slight contact between Torres's foot and the Chilean player's knee, but that is not when Torres fell.
Carefully watch the vid and you could see that Torres didn't fall when there was the actual contact but a full second after it happened. He makes another step ater there is the actual contact then decides to go thumbling like he's been shot. There was no intent from the opposing player, it was all dive and Torres should have been the one booked not the other way around

When you're running at that speed and a contact cause you to trip, you go down hard just like that.

First you made it sound like there was no contact
at all. now you're saying there was a contact... I think you hadn't even watched the clip carefully before you said the Chile player wasn't anywhere near Torres.
That's not when Torres fell?! that's exactly why he didn't dive! if he wanted to dive he would've gone down immediately after he fell something hitting him. but the contact caused him to trip and as I said above to Kurt, there's no way you can avoid falling down after tripping like that. you have run in your life, you know tripping while running=falling down.

My definition of a dive is falling like a pissy baby to cheat the game to get results. For me, contact hast nothing to do with it. 'Going down easy' is just another way to say 'dive' in my book. You're definition can differ, you're entitled to that. He dove.

I did watch it and I saw the contact with his foot but still it's not like the Chilean player ran into him or took his feet out from under him, that is what I meant when I said he wasn't anywhere near him, they're both running, both have their eyes on the ball and as soon as Torres felt the slight contact he went down. DIVE!!!
No he didn't fall as soon as there was the contact, please watch and you can clearley see that, he was running his foot made contact with the other player's knee, took another step and went down like a pile of bricks. The contact was slight, it wouldn't have made him fall no matter how fast they were running.
Torres is a cheating diver always has been, and this was anoher case of him making a meal out of it, the fact that he stayed down and took a nap as well after says it all

And you're the fist person that I've seen defending him, which should say a lot

Torres is Spanish, it's in their footballing culture. Just like stretching the rules is there in Italian football.
I think this is in the same bracket as the Keita incident, except the reverse. Imagine if Kaka had been bumped and fell down clutching his face and rolled about.
They'd scored the goal, and this offence was not a yellow card.

I'm not arguing with that fact that Torres is a diving cheat - he's not even one of my favorite players. you're welcome to read each one of my 12000 posts to see whether have I once said something that indicates I'm a fan of his or something. all I'm saying is that this time he didn't dive.
And anyone who says he could have stayed on his feet after tripping, either have not run in their entire lives or haven't tripped like that. there's simply not way you can avoid falling. it's easy, ask a mate to try it on you!!
