The contract of Mathias Cardacio has been deposited with Lega Calcio; he's now officially a Milan player.

Benvenuto Mathias!
Zed.D
Welcome Cardacio! hope you surprise us lot. smile.gif

Any pics of him anyone?
Zed.D
Impressive goal.

Is he the dude that compared himself to Pirlo?

@ Tennie

Google says it's Cardaccio not Cardacio unsure.gif

Tennie
Lega Calcio has it as 'Cardacio'. They win.smile.gif
vahid
Was there anything official on Milan website? reading.gif
Tennie
Nothing yet, no. I just looked.

That said, Lega Calcio is the football league. Transfers are only REALLY official when contracts are deposited here - and Carcacio's contract has been deposited. My guess is that an official announcement is likely to come tomorrow.
vahid
So how old is he?we are going to loan him or he will stay at the club?

It seems that he's on loan at Milan, we can't loan out a loaned player! unsure.gif
Tennie
He's not on loan. He's fully Milan's.
Bluesummers
yup hes ours.
Tennie
Looks like he will be staying with the team. He'll be wearing the #14 jersey.

I NUMERI DI MAGLIA DI CARDACIO E VIUDEZ
05/08/2008

[THE JERSEY NUMBERS OF CARDACIO AND VIUDEZ
MILANELLO - Mathias Cardacio and Tabare Viudez are Milan players, the contracts of both were depsited with the Lega yesterday. Cardacio will wear the #14 jersey while Viudez will wear the #20 jersey. The two Uruguayans trained regularly today at Milanello and tomorrow will meet the group and Carlo Ancelotti.]

I'm a bit confused now...does two players are allready in our senior roster? That means we have made new signings for our team depth,..or?
m1ke
I thought Carlo said that both will train with the first team for a week, and after that they'll decide what to do?

Oh, fair enough..
acid911
Ditto.
Tennie
That's what he said, but look at the jersey numbers. It's roundabout logic, but a team's #20 is generally NOT a primavera player. Not sure they'd have been allowed to pick those numbers if there was much chance of them sitting with the primavera all season.
Rossoneri7
The summer is full of surprises ... This should definitely translate into depth, even if they are really young.
CrazyMilanFan
i have a firm belive that these two could be the surpirse of the season specially Cardacio bcoz at his position we only have one player that is pirlo of course we replac him with brocchi but who knws if he gets a chance and becomes a regular sub for pirlo and i have high hopes on the lad

I agree that they will add depth we need... and definitely I was caught be surprise by this duo being signed (Viudez and Cardacio). BTW, is Cardacio spelled with two Cs or one? Some sites I see it as Cardaccio.
Tennie
It's 'Cardaccio' for the Uruguay U-20s, but it's 'Cardacio' on the Lega Calcio site and on acmilan.com, so I'm going with the latter.

Cardacio fighting some Brazilian kid for the ball during the South American U-20s last year.

(please don't hit me, zd!)
GrinReaper
Cardaccio in that pic reminds me of Puyol.
Giancarlo
You know I also think that these two being signed could mean that Emerson and Brocchi will have zero playing time. Someone mentioned before players usually don't get numbers like that unless they are being considered for the senior team. I think we will be seeing these two in the upcoming season.

I would hope with some luck we see them play against Man City. Since we need an attacking mid player because of Kaka's absence, Viudez could fill in that spot... not that I want to put pressure on the kid right now. He's very young. Once Ronaldinho comes back. Wow... Kaka will really have a lot of pressure reduced off him.

Just a little something for you from Goal.com (rubbish):

http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=795373

LOL. Cardaccio apparently, according to them, was going to Roma. If that's true, it's just another idea that has gone wrong for Roma.
Tennie
And they got it wrong again. He was going to LAZIO.

Goal.com is not reliable.

I put him in a coffin and buried him alive. But he told me he'd been trained by Pai Mei. Would he really lie about something like that? unsure.gif

zd (and others): there are photos of today's training session up on acmilan.com. You can see them if you're registered on the site, and registration is free.

There's only one problem. Unless I'm mistaken, the charming folks at acmilan.com are rather confused as to which new player is which. I think they've got the wrong names under the wrong pictures.
whoarethepatriots
Cardacio and Vudez both have dual nationality (Italian both of them) thats why no EU spots were used up and we have been linked with Thiago Silva(?) - was in a previous post somewhere but i cant be bothered searching for it

Both of the Urugayans tusling with Pato look the same! tongue.gif

The reason they are put in the first team is that every club in Italy has the right to sign 2 non-EU players per season (and 1 in the winter trasfer window). This is a valuable option and most of the clubs don't miss to exploite it by signing young talents from all arround the world every season. Once they were signed on a permanent contract ussually these youngsters are loaned to clubs from lower divisions. That was supposed to be the faith of Kaka when he arrived initially in Milan at the age of 21 I think. But after a few weeks he turned to be too good for serie B team wink.gif

So far we have signed Dinho but he already has a spanish passport so the two spots for non EU players were still free and it wasn't a big surprise that these two young southamericans were signed at the end.

However I thought I read somewhere that one of them may have an italian passport. If it is true I would expect us to sign another non EU youngster.

Nope? huh.gif He plays for the biggest club in the world, and that makes it much easier to be selected for the NT if you come from a relatively smaller nation such as Uruguay. Imagine if I were snapped up by Milan, then I'd certainly have a clear shot at Pakistan NT, irrespective of the fact whether I play regularly or not at my club.
