Me too, but there are still 2 friendlies left, why does it mean Abbiati won't start off the season?

I'm pretty sure Abbiati is guaranteed first-choice for the season. huh.gif Can't see it any other way. He had it good in the TIM Cup match, and after Kalac ruined it with Chelsea, things were set in stone. Dida never was in the picture then, and he still isn't. The Brazilian is second-choice till disaster strikes.

This game is on Champions League time... sleep.gif

According to Mediaset, here are the probable starting lineups:

MILAN (4-4-1-1) Abbiati, Zambrota, Bonera, favalli, Jankulovski; gattuso, Flamini, Pirlo, Ambrosini; Seedorf; Inzaghi
JUVENTUS (4-4-2) Buffon; Zebina, Mellberg, Chiellini, Molinaro; Salihamidzic, Sissoko, Ekdal, Nedved; Amauri, iaquinta

dst
Gattuso, Flamini, Pirlo, Ambrosini...

**** OFF, I'm not watching this.

No Uruguayan dudes, maybe? unsure.gif

C'mon, dst, he could have fielded one more DM. smile.gif

Did some lurking on a zebra board. Their biggest concern seems to be that nobody get hurt. One person hoped that Poulsen would make new friends after having got along so well with Gattuso in the past.

What's wrong with that?

It's a friendly and he's fielding 3 DMs AND Pirlo. It's about as unoffensive you can get.. Against Juve in the league? Fine, if we got apoint against them I'd be happy, but in a friendly? Come on Carlo, this is ridiculous!

You mean because the defence would be so bad thus giving the gk 3x the work to do, so it would be a contest of who makes the most saves wink.gif

Exactly biggrin.gif

I don't really agree with this at all. I see the youngsters at least getting a good 45 minutes.

Hopefully you're right

But we all know that Carlo will come out with something like this

--------------Abbiati---------------
Zambro--Bonera--Favalli--Janku
--Flamini--Ambro--Pirlo--Rino---
--------------Seedorf--------------
----------------Pippo---------------

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif haha, I guessed right biggrin.gif
Tennie
It really is an ugly-looking lineup, isn't it? (though the fish doll congratulates han on guessing right).

Given who's been called up, who would you guys start? Same lineup? Something different?
Zed.D
The only thing we lack right now, apart from a CB, is a creative and risk-taking coach. what the hell is that? dry.gif is he THAT worried about the result that he kept our new Uruguayans, Antonini, Darmian, etc out of this? what difference does it make? we're going to get embarrassed in the end... everyone knows the kids will get ZERO playing time in the league. why shouldn't them get a proper chance (not 25 or 45 minutes ****) in these friendlies?

I'm expecting significant changes. For this one, traditionally they do tend to use all 6 subs. I'm hoping to see Darmian and the new kids too, at some point.
amancik
Cardacio, Viudez & Darmian need to play. This game is going to be very difficult for us as the attack isn't strong enough. Is Paloschi called up for this game?

Milan will have a bit more options up front this time around, Pippo Inzaghi might start tomorrow, with Seedorf also fit to play .. I think there will be some fireworks .. At least I hope so unsure.gif

They should start in my opinion. dry.gif Particularly when our regulars won't give up on their place in the team during the season. Why is Ancelotti so afraid of things? It's one of the greatest mysteries of life.

My point exactly. laugh.gif It's at 00:45 (August 18) my time, so technically you were right. Should start in an hour or so, though.
Giancarlo
I see nothing wrong iwth the line-up and I'm sure major changes will occur at the half nonetheless... either way I see nothing wrong with it.

We shouldn't have to put our players at risk in a friendly with an offensive formation.

All our available first team players are going to be on the pitch so I don't see how playing Viudez and Darmain would put players at risk.

This is a friendly so all those defensive mids are not required, not only that but they will get in eachother's way.

Playing a more offensive game won't put any more risk of an injury occuring more then having refular training. A player can get injured at any moment we saw that happen to Nesta who wasn;t even playing any sort of football while getting a bad injury.

It's about giving players who will probably have no chance to play once the season starts some playing time (Cardacio, Viudez, Darmain)

I really don't agree with this and as I said changes will be made at half time. Like it or not, those players in the formation need some playing time too. And I'm sure when the season starts Cardacio and Viudez will get playing time. Big assumptions.
Tennie
I'm not sure one can ever really characterize a game against the Zebras as a friendly. smile.gif As for the number and timing of the substitutions, let's just wait and see, shal we?
Zed.D
When will the match kick off? (exactly how many minutes from now?) I'm confused...
Tennie
The match will kick off in just over 30 minutes from when I'm posting. (20.45 Milan time).

About 15 or so minutes from now...

strange things with defence

What about it? unsure.gif The only thing I'm concerned with is the defensive army in the midfield. Plus the fact that we're still not trying out our new young signings, and keep playing these 'friendlies' with the old horses in the mid.
Tennie
Hah. so even the call up list was wrong. Il Capitano wasn't listed as being available.

When Carletto said we're going to see if Viudez will stay with the first team or join the Primavera he obviously meant through training... cause we all know that's where one's qualities can be evaluated better... just like with Gourcuff... sleep.gif
