Where's the beer?
Fillipo Simone
Anyone else surprised Bayern did not buy anyone this summer?

Btw. Demichelis could be leaving.
Tennie
Wow, that totally slipped by me. They didn't buy anyone at all? Huh.

Also...yay that Leverkusen beat Dortmund yesterday!
Fillipo Simone
Not a yay to me.

Well...Kroos returned...
Tennie
(But I think Adler is cute, Fillipo, so yay.) cool.gif
LaPalma
Bayern don't need anyone besides a decent left back. And there's no one decent on the market who's price tag is not crazy. A club has to pay 20+ million for a player who's been playing one decent season in Portugal or the Netherlands. That's a joke.
Fillipo Simone
Whohohoho...I wouldn't agree - Bayern's defense is more then problematic - IMO they need to pick up Adler or Begnalio (aka a classy keeper solution) and a central defender as well...
LaPalma
I think Butt is good for the moment (till the end of the season). They've probably signed some kinda pre contract with Neuer already. But you're right...a good central defender would be a nice thing for them.
The problem is the market...there's almost no decent full backs available in the world and which central defender should they buy let him play alongside Badstuber? There's some options of course, but who would be significantly better than Van Buyten and come in for a reasonably price?

Looking forward to Saturday. Diego is back and I'm curious to see how good Schalke really are.
Fillipo Simone
I don't think Schalke can make it. HSV showed them a good lesson. But I'm indeed curious.

I'd say Bayern will pick up Adler, but Neuer wouldn't be bad as well.
Tennie
Well, if Bayern pick up Adler, I can watch games with Wauzi. smile.gif

Next season, at least.
Tennie
Yesterday's game provided a good argument as to why Bayern either need to buy a new centerback or Demichelis needs to make up with Van Gaal. Some dreadful defending led to two goals in the space of a few minutes. FT Bayern 0-2 Kaiserslautern.
X-Offender
Wow, Wolfsburg lost 3-4 to Mainz after an initial 3-0 lead of the home team. Diego scored, by the way, and a double of Dzeko.
Fishdoll
+1 cookie.gif to Chu, who must be in a good mood -- Gladbach had an excellent day at the office today. smile.gif

biggrin.gif

+1 cookie.gif for the each Gladbach player and coach... (how could they not beat Nürnberg at home? sad.gif ...)
amazing table at the moment 96.gif awesome
Fishdoll
Just saw the highlights of the Gladbach match -- this fish likes young Hermann for Gladbach!

(My person is sad though, that Adler conceded six.)
LaPalma
Ballack was, once again, not at the top of his game. I wonder if he'll ever be back at the top. The "small" teams like Mainz, Kaiserslautern and Gladbach looked very good so far. Special admiration goes to Lauterns manager Stefan Kuntz. When he took the helm at the "Roten Teufel" they almost got relegated to the thirs Bundesliga. Now 2 1/2 years later they're back in the Bundesliga and beat Bayern...

Adler disappointed me... he didn't look good that match..

Hermann seems like a nice prospect indeed... a million times better than Matmour I'd say

Let's see if Knutz can pull off a Rehhagel-KSC wonder smile.gif
LaPalma
Nah...that was Rehhagels masterpiece...no one can ever achieve that again.
Fillipo Simone
Yep. That and Greece. One of the few coach-miracle-maker left in business these days.
LaPalma
And I'm expecting him to get a new job soon.

Schalke not only signed Hunter, but Atleticos Jurado as well (for another 13 million Euro). I have no clue where they got that money from. Last year they were almost bankrupt and now they can sign Raul, Hunter and Jurado...
Fillipo Simone
Schalke seem to be in trouble this season. Lost every match so far. Not looking good.
Jack Sparrow
On paper they have a good lineup don't they?? But with all those transfers in key positions it will take them time to gel I imagine.

On paper, Raul as an SS with KJH...and Jurado behind is quietly formidable.
Fillipo Simone
Yes, only question mark is why Magath choose to sell his whole back-line. With Bordon, Westermann and Rafinha out their defensive problems are augmented.
Fillipo Simone
So, a few weeks later: Mainz and BVB still first. Mainz play really attractive, but I just can't like them. BVB all the way this year I hope!

As for the big clubs - Schalke and Stuttgart still in relegation positions. Stuttgart amazes me - they manage to fire their coach always at season start. Something's wrong with that team.

Bayern, Wolfsburg and HSV still on hold. Could be a very extraordinary season.
Jack Sparrow
Go Munich!!!! king.gif

devilsmiley.gif whaaaaaaaaaat????????????
Jack Sparrow
I dunno. It's a toss up between Mainz, Stuttgart and Munich for me this season..on whom to support. unsure.gif
Fillipo Simone
Then indeed, go Bayern!
amancik
What do you guys know about Mario Goetze? I've seen his name popped out in news a few times but how good is he? Any German scouts here?
Fillipo Simone
Who's Mario Goetze?
amancik
A German attacking midfielder who plays for Borussia Dortmund, 18 years of age. But that's all I know.
LaPalma
He's Dortmunds most recent child prodigy. He's been great for the past weeks is very fast and agile. He's also been nominated for Germanys friendly against Sweden. He seems to be a promising talent. But it's his first real season in professional football.

Yep, I got a glimpse on him yesterday with the HSV match. He looks great, like in fact everything at BVB. They could really do it this time I think.
LaPalma
I agree. They can win the Meisterschaft this year. Klopp seems to be more than the TV teacher he first appeared to be: A hard worker, a fine tactician and a brillant motivator. He was Dortmunds best transfer in the past ten years.
Fillipo Simone
Indeed. And seems like he made (of course, this is based on just 2 seasons, so we cannot tell to which instant this parallel is correct) Dortmund look like a German version of Arsenal. Key now will be regeneration.
LaPalma
Well, I think the reason for Drtmunds young team (average age last week was 23,1!) is their financial problems. They simply didn't have enough cash to buy experienced players. But regeneration shouldn't be a big problem for them. They're out of the DFB-Pokal, almost out of the Euo-League as well which measn they an totally focus on winning the Bundesliga.
Fillipo Simone
No, no, I meant regeneration in sense of replacing the present young players (who will be sold) by new ones.

Anyway, I just hope Klopp won't turn into a new Rangnick (great first part of season, downfall in the second).
amancik
I don't know if you guys notice this, but Borussia Dortmund is 10 points ahead of second place in the table! That's crazy. Bayern Munich is 17 points behind.
X-Offender
17??? Whoa! I don't follow the Bundesliga, but I never thought Bayern was so far behind.
Jack Sparrow
I've been watching ever single Dortmund match since I came here. Been cheering for them like crazy. biggrin.gif
Fillipo Simone
Me too. I like both BVB and FCB (sorry for doubting about Subotic).
Well, Bayern have a crazy injury season, the also have problems with the CB's (Breno sucks, Demichelis is in rift with van Gaal, and van Buyten also a disaster+is injured also). So I do understand van Gaals problems. Also, Müller has a pretty quiet season as well.

But just look at Schalke and Stuttgart. Especially Schalke, they struggle for survivor. Yes, they won against Bayern 2-0 last matchday, but that was completely undeserved. Werder, Wolfsburg and HSV are also doing pretty bad. It's a peculiar season.
Jack Sparrow
Yeah. I think however that the problem B.Dortmund are gonna have is with keeping their players. Klopp is fast becoming I imagine a German version of David Moyes. Made some really astute buys like Shinji Kagawa for instance.

But the spine of the team is Barrios, Sahin and Subotic. All three of them are ripe to be pounced on by the bigger players.
Fillipo Simone
...don't forget Weidenfeller!
Jack Sparrow
Well he's not had to do anything spectacular in the matches I saw...like for instance Neuer against Munich. biggrin.gif But I guess he's important to the team.
Fillipo Simone
Maybe, but he's a leader. He's so underrated in Germany, I can't understand why for example Löw calls Wiese in front of him.

I think Stuttgarts is in an even bigger mess than Schalke. The latter at least have good players such as Farfan, Raul, Huntelaar while Stuttgarts squad has no potential

True, Klopp is a great coach. But the transfer coups like Kagawa and Barrios were the work of Dortmunds manager Michael Zorc. He has done a great job as well.

He's good, but no material for the NT. We have Neuer and Adler. Wiese is a decent third keeper, just like Weidenfeller would be.

Oh so that's why they stuff the mic into his face everytime. I thought it was just Germans being weird. tongue.gif

But you know what's really cool...sky's new thing about mixing opera with football. I laughed like a clown when they showed it at the bar.
