The reason I think it was legit - very soft, but still legit - is because Bradley appeared to try to avoid Ranocchia when he slid in by jumping over him. He tripped over Ranocchia's head and went down...

But could have been what you're saying i.e. Bradley doing that intentionally. In which case I bought it just like the ref so I can't really fault him for giving it.

Anyways, the score is only benefitting us. So good decision or not. I think it was excellent!! biggrin.gif

Roma deserved to win, but who cares.

Juve and Milan the real winners this weekend.

Ah, that one is on Allegri.

It wasn't one of Allegri's worst showings in my opinion, he made some questionable subs, but much of it was down to individual players & their lack of chemistry (possibly due to Allegri, but not entirely his fault on that one occasion, as it was cumulative if anything)
X-Offender
Sneijder's first words as a Galatasaray player: "It's a dream".

Seriously, a dream? laugh.gif

Baggio: 'FIGC project a failure'
By Football Italia staff

Roberto Baggio has angrily terminated his job with the FIGC. “I am leaving because they haven’t allowed me to work.”

The Divine Ponytail was brought in after the 2010 World Cup as part of a renewal process and given the role of President of the Technical Sector.

He was meant to help revamp the youth team process to create more home-grown talent.

“I am leaving because they haven’t allowed me to work,” slammed Baggio on the TG1.

“I don’t care about keeping seats of power. I tried to perform the role that had been given to me, to renew the foundations of football training from children to teenagers in order to grow good players.

“I was not allowed to do this and am no longer prepared to carry on. I presented my project in December 2011. It was a 900-page plan and remained a dead letter.

“As President of the Technical Sector, I had no right to vote in the Federation meetings and there was no point going to meetings that had nothing to do with my work.

“For example, when I presented this plan I spent five hours waiting outside to then have a 15-minute presentation.

“The FIGC had set aside €10m for this project and I am grateful to President Giancarlo Abete for what he has done, but so far I have not received any funds to proceed. It all remained on paper.

“This is why I must sadly say goodbye. Is it definitive? I love football and my country, so I remain ready for any interesting proposal.”

Italian football is sick and beyond saving.
Fillipo Simone
Beyond saving? Hmh, yes it has grave problems but I think we shouldn't give up yet.

Come on, it's a matter of time before Serie A loses it's 3rd CL spot as well.

Yup. There's no money, old and empty stadiums that clubs do not own, no big names in the league any longer (the remaining ones that were Thiago, Ibra and Sneijder all left), no project for the future. It's just sad, really.
Jack Bauer
Fillipo Simone
Hmh, interesting. But even so, SES and Pazzo play totally individualistic. There's no chemistry, no real relationship between the two.

He'll most likely be out of there come this summer. He's too good to stay at Napoli while the big Italian clubs couldn't afford him

I think someone will have to pay the 63m buy-out to get him. Worth every penny though.

Seems like it is the inevitable .. Germany has a better football environment all-around, something that rivals the PL if you ask me. It is all tied down to FIGC's ability to improve the football environment in Italy, coupled with the Municipalities privitizing the stadiums. Not much holding the football in Italy back, except the Government itself which can not afford to let go of these income generating stadiums for its current fiscal state plus the bureaucracy. Inevitable.

And realistically speaking which teams could afford that?

Only City and PSG spring to mind, maybe Real, but I don't think he'll want to go to PSG. So either England or Spain. I think De Laurentis already said something along the lines of how it will be very difficuilt to hold onto him for another season.

But isn't teams leaving the stadiums and doing what Juve did ultimately worse than just selling them? At least if they're not getting the rent income from the clubs they'll make the money from the sales of the stadiums.

I know Juve built over the Delle Alpi, but I don't know how that got worked out with the city. Did they just pay for the land?

I'm not sure where he'll go. With the forwards they have, I just don't see him going to City. Even if they did sell Balotelli, I don't know you can really have 4 elite strikers.

I hear that both Argentina and Uruguay are like the 'Italy of South America' so maybe he feels somewhat at home in Seire A and hopefully he stays.

I didn't know Juve left the Delle Alpi, more like Juventus bought the stadium from the municipality. But in their case they demolished the old and built a new stadium.

If we get the deeds for the San Siro .. That would be something!! But until then, the bureaucracy has to go down first, then we can talk.
X-Offender
The best solution would be for Inter to find a new home, we buy San Siro and completely renovate it. Now that would be something. Sadly, I cannot see it happening anytime soon.
kurtsimonw
Matej Vydra is currently on loan to Watford from Udinese. Scored 2 so far today making them his 17th and 18th goals of the season - he's only started 18 games. Look like a good prospect at only 20 years old. Udinese find some handy little players it seems. Can we buy their scouting?
kurtsimonw
Juve denied a blatent penalty in the 93rd minute. Should've had another earlier in the game earlier too.

Be very interesting if Napoli win tomorrow.

Are you nuts? That was totally involuntary. It'd have been the most idiotic penalty of the season. But yeah, there was another legit penalty on Pogba earlier.

He stopped the ball with his hand. He it not hit him, Vucinic is there for an easy goal. It's a penalty and red for me. Can't change the direction of a ball that much with your hands in the 6 yard box and get away with it.

If his hand was in the frame of his body, I agree. But it was way out of his body.

Either way, I'm happy for them to drop points. I want Napoli to get close.

No man, just no. He was trying to kick the ball away, which hit his foot and flipped on his hand by accident. It was plain obvious. I just checked Mediaset's moviola and it says the same thing.
kurtsimonw
I can't agree, he messed up his clearance and it was going towards the box still until it hit his hand. He's denied a goal scoring opportunity. Doesn't matter if it's an accident or not. You're telling me if someone accidently handballs it on the line it shouldn't be a penalty? Or someone genuinly makes an attempt to get the ball and is a split second late so he fouls someone that it shouldn't be a foul because he didn't mean to do it? No way.

As far as I'm concerned his arms were outside the frame of his body and it hit them = handball.
Jack Bauer
Great game between Bologna and Roma finished with 3-3. Both teams had multiple chances to win.

Yes, it matters, very much. It's down to the referee to determine the voluntariness of an action. There was a split second between Granqvist kicking the ball and it landing on his arm, even Flash couldn't have avoided it. The other scenarios you mentioned are different, especially the second one. The referee made the right decision.

Edit: Oh, and it wasn't a clear goal opportunity, since Granqvist cleared the ball, and if it wasn't for his arm, the ball would have went flying in the opposite direction. If anything, he granted Juve a corner in the last seconds.
Fillipo Simone
Hmh, Napoli and Fiorentina leading. Hopefully at least one of their opponents manages to score.

He flicked the ball towards the box. He stopped a goal scoring opportunity with his hand. I disagree completely, but we'll leave it at that.

The ball was gonna flick upwards if it hadn't touched the arm. Calling it a goal-scoring opportunity is an extreme exaggeration.

And Alvarez and Coutinho have seemingly fell off the face of the Earth. I know Alvarez isn't particularly creative, but surely he's a better option behind the forwards than Guarin.
