I still think we could have gotten another 5 or 6 million more. This only means we wanted him out more than Liverpool wanted him in.

'Those in the know' saying this deal would not have gone through without a replacement being ready and signed. I call bullshite. The days when we had that degree of strategy in transfer market seems long gone.

I imagine we will get Cerci. And probably some lesser striker. We shall grind and graft our way hopefully to a EL place this season.

Agreed. Also, I doubt it we are that serious about giving space to our youth players.

el sha: I fancy him playing the central role now, we mostly just appreciate the defensive work he does on the wing, he's no world class winger, he's got the finishing and speed..... and pippo can indeed coach him to become a good striker.

douglas costa: he's willing to move here, he would be that creative bright spark we haven't seen in this team for about 3yrs...tired of seeing out lethargic build up play. let galliani come up with one more extended structured deal to make this happen.

chicharito: a young penalty box striker who is really alive to tuck away chances.

taarabt: why not? he's cheap and can offer something

dzemaili: we need a cm badly.

Yup, those would be good options. Right now, I am trying real hard to remain positive, but I fear we are not going to be happy by the time transfers close.

Completely agree with you Jack, there's no one lined up, we'll be lucky if we can close the Cerci and Dzemaili deals, because this is what we've been reduced to, hoping we can sign two very average players!!

I've said this before about SES, but I don't think anyone in the coaching department can see beyond the tips of their own noses. SES is clearly not a winger imo, at best he's an SS. He's got pace, a great shot and good finishing skills. He isn't capable of dribbling and beating his man which is essential for any winger.

Douglas Costa would be a dream considering the alternative is Cerci, but I can't see us coughing up that kind of cash for him

Chicarito is a big no for me, he's a pure poacher that needs consistent good supply to be effective, something our mediocre midfield won't be able to provide

Dzemaili is someone I'd take, unhappily so, but he's an obvious improvement over anyone we currently have for that LCM role.

Another masterstroke by Galliani. Selling our main asset at his most lowest value and at worst possible timing. #king

So the majority of you have gotten your wish, and our 'cancer' that was Balotelli is no longer an 'issue' for us. thumbup.gif

Lucky for us at such a great price too, it would've been hard for us to say no! rolleyes.gif

Lord knows we were set up top, and Balo was nothing but surplus!

Now we can reinvest this 'lump sum' of money to improve the team's 'few' positions which need attention. wink.gif

First we'll get a suitable replacement for Balo (easy!), then we'll get our much needed CM position attended to & then, we will get a great winger as well with whatever is left.

20Mil... Wow I'm just gleaming from ear to ear - Oh, what we can do with that!!!

What's that... 12mil still owed to Man City? ... No problem we've still got at least 8Mil smile.gif

...

Okay, I'm finished being a d!cK about it (maybe for now...)

It's just really hard to get behind (in my opinion), another bonehead move from our management at this time!

But as always, I'll wait until we've completed all our dealings before I choose to pass judgement - There are still 10 days until the market closes, and I intend on seeing what 'magic' the club has up their sleeves in order to restructure this side, because it surely can't stay like this!

As I've mentioned before... Selling Balotelli would not have been my 1st choice, but if he had to; certainly not for a cut low price, and especially to Liverpool... Ughh!! dry.gif

... I really don't know what else to say or where I was going with this rant.

10 days to go!!!

Just 10 more days and we can see the 'full picture' hopefully - Surely there is a plan in mind huh.gif unsure.gif

Corriere suggests we may give Cristante (valued around €4 million) + €12-13 million to Torino for Cerci.

Over the past few days, I've been reading that Torino requested Cristante be included as part of the deal, but we rejected the idea and would consider an alternative youth.

We knew Balo was leaving, and the teams linked were always Arsenal and Liverpool.

The timing does stink but I'm sick of him only showing up when Balo wants to. His attitude is basically the worst one I've seen at San Siro pretty much my entire time of supporting this club.

But yes, we do desperately need a replacement, and rumour has it there are three deals lined up:

Falcao, Soldado and Negredo.
X-Offender
Falcao? Not in a million years. laugh.gif

I'm a bit in disbelief right now. I can't believe we sold our best striker for such a pittance. Seriously, 20m for Balotelli??Galliani must be high off his ***. What shitty pathetic deal. The only silver lining I can see with this deal is that Balo was sold instead of De Sciglio. If this window is to be anything but an abject failure we now need to replace Balo with someone capable of being a starter, a decent CM to cover until
Montolivo's return, and a back up winger ideally able to play on both wings.

Falcao?? Yeah right, we couldn't afford him in a million years

Negredo has a serious injury that will keep him out for a good few more months while Saldado is just terrible!!
kurtsimonw
The saddest thing is that he is leaving for roughly the same price as Vermaelen. The same guy who's been crap for 2 years and couldn't even get into the Arsenal side. We're hilariously bad in the market, no wonder the club is a mess.
Danny
Balotelli has been pretty f*ckin' rubbish last season too tbh. Most of his goals were from the spot and his moments of magic were few and far between.

Agreed. Plus I never was particularly impressed with Negredo (I know a lot of people here think he is great, but IMHO he struggled at City where he had great mids, so he will struggle even more at Milan).

yeah, not to bothered by the fact Balo is gone. My problems are that (1) I believe we could have gotten more out of him (not today, but maybe in the future), and (2) I am skeptical that we will put the money to good use.

Seems like Jackson Martinez is the main target but it will take at least 25m to bring him.

Of all the mentioned options Martinez seems the most realistic. Maybe we can get than to drop the price a bit and we can give the someone like Didac Vila as well.
X-Offender
The sucky thing about Martinez and Cerci is that they're 27-28, not exactly a long-term investment.

9 days left until the window closes and there is no clear link to any possible replacement for Balo not to mention the RW and CM links have completely died down thanks to the hysteria created by the Balo sale.

We appear to be linked with Destro and Van Ginkel.

We've been linked with so many strikers just today I'm inclined to believe none of them, there were also reports we tried to loan German Denis FFS!! We basically want to loan out an entire team, just ridiculous!

Van Ginkel, I've never actually seen him, but is this what we're going to become now, a feeder club for PSG and Chelsea, take their young players for a year and send them back?

Yup, I share your frustration. Particularly because we seem to have lost any ambition, we do not seem to have anything that vaguely resembles a "project", and we are keep falling further behind teams that have lower revenue than us.

Porto apparently have stated Jackson Martinez is not for sale. His buyout clause is 35 million euros.

Eto seems to be headed to Liverpool, Torres maybe Roma. One is well past his best years, the other has not done much in the last few years. Both would be an expensive waste. I really hope we do not end up with either.

And no, we do not have a strategy. Many of our decisions seem to be irrational (for example, IMHO the main reason we got rid of Balo is that Berlu does not like him, never liked him). And anything to do with a "youth project" is just empty words AFAIAC.

(Despite everything, I am trying real hard to remain positive and still hoping we will use whatever funds we have wisely.)

I believe it is best to leave hope at the gate. sleep.gif Like me. I'm eternally hopeful, and although I am aware full well all the indecisions and bad decisions Milan made (since 2005, really), I a not disappointed one bit. Because the team and management had to pay for it all. They ended up being the jokers and losers.

Getting back to the remaining positive and hoping bit, if you don't, then you can end up with a nice surprise before the transfer window closes. If not, no harm no foul. Keep expectations zero, and end up with a win win.

Destro, Muriel, Martinez, Soldado, Torres, Chicharito.

Muriel would be my #1 of those, but he'll cost a bit I would think. Destro or Martinez I wouldn't mind, but both had good seasons so don't imagine they will be cheap. Spurs won't sell Soldado for much less than they paid for him, I dont think. Torres is crap, Chicarito is crap outside the box.

Basically pay up or settle with rubbish.

Neither Abate, he also came through the ranks and was never co-owned so we never paid anything for him

8 days left until the window closes and we need to sign 3 good players before then. I can't see that happening. Especially if they're wasting their time trying to get Martinez from a team that is notoriously difficult to deal with.

Milan, Balotelli and Liverpool have been negotiating the transfer for 3 months. This as per Balo's agent. This means since late May. Hence any transfer in should already be known to the club, while media and fans are left in the dark.

I'm sorry but this is BS!

We don't have any targets. And had we really been so sure about selling him we should have made the right moves before the deal went public. Now every club knows we're desperate for a striker and will demand even more cash, cash we're never going to be willing to pay.

Watch us sign Torres in some convoluted loan deal where we pay him ridiculous wages!

This reeks of the same panic we were in after they sold Ibra, Silva, Kaka and Sheva

“The negotiations have been going on for three months. It’s not exactly a scoop,” representative Mino Raiola told the Corriere della Sera newspaper.

"I'll conclude the transfer on Monday or Tuesday, as there are still a few things to sort out.

“Liverpool have always been the only English club who negotiated for Mario. I never lied to the media. Three days ago there was talk of Liverpool, but no offer. The truth is I’ve been working on Mario for months: the time had come to divorce from Milan.

“There wasn’t any row, incident or change. It’s not true that the rapport broke down with Milan. I was always against bringing Mario back to Italy: the pressure, the expectation, the media... Playing in Italy is much tougher for him than abroad.

We can not pay ridiculous wages to whomever we sign as we have a wage cap.

The article you're posting is irrelevant to the issue we're talking about, which is Galliani having someone in line already to replace Balo, which he clearly doesn't

And laugh.gif @ the wage cap BS! The wage cap only applies to the players they want it to apply to. It's like that BS they gave us that no players above 30 would receive more than a 1 year contract. How many players since then that are over 30 have gotten long contracts?

Reading on sky that we could get Lestienne on loan instead of Cerci so the money would all be spent for the CF position.

No concrete rumours for midfield still. It's like Galliani is blind to the huge shortcomings we have in that position, strengthen that area properly and the team's quality goes up at least 10 notches, attackers aren't what make a great team, they're just nice to have

Yep, his current wage is what we just received for Mario's sale. Just ridiculous numbers that he's earning at Monaco.

He is a huge Pippo fan though, I read that he asked Yepes a couple of years back to ask Pippo for an autographed shirt biggrin.gif

Milan continues to be active on the transfer market. After selling Balotelli to Liverpool, the rossoneri are looking for his replacement as well as an offensive winger. While there are many candidates on Milan’s list, Club Brugge’s Maxime Lestienne is emerging as the front runner. Milan has intensified their pursuit in the last few hours, they contacted the player’s agent Mikkel Beck and Rocco Dozzini, who is Lestienne’s point of reference on Italy. Some details need to be resolved to complete the deal, but Club Brugge is willing to send the player to Milan on loan with option to buy. Lestienne’s arrival would close the door in acquiring Torino’s Cerci as well as a clear signal Milan wants to reinvest the money from Balotelli’s sale on a striker.
