I was just wondering, what exactly is a co-ownership? (Don't just say it means he's owned by more than one club. How does it work?)

I seem to hear that happen a few times between Italian clubs.

It it kinda like a loan or something?

Kinda of. But in this case it's totally out of question. That doesn't happen in world-class players... it's absurd.

Cobolli Gigli: Buffon stays Monday 30 April, 2007

Juventus chief Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has declared that Gianluigi Buffon will never be sold to Inter or Milan.

The Bianconero has been paired with a summer move, after stating that he was missing Champions League football, and reports suggested that he might join one of the Milan clubs.

“I want to tell our supporters who fear Buffon’s move to Inter that this is not only an absurd hypothesis, but it isn’t even an hypothesis,” Cobolli Gigli told Controcampo.

“Honestly, if this were to happen it would just be too much, we would not be able to look them in the eye,” added official.

“This is also more or less true for Milan. During the last Lega meeting I told both Massimo Moratti and Adriano Galliani that Buffon is untouchable.

“They also asked me to inform them if we were to change our mind, but I replied this is not an option,” concluded the Juventino.

The goalkeeper admitted over the weekend that his future has yet to be decided, as the reports hinting that he was close to joining one of the San Siro outfits were false.

“I may stay, I might go, but nobody knows what I have decided – not even me. The only thing I feel that I can say is that I will not make the decision by myself. It will be in agreement with the club,” declared the world champion.

Serie A concern for Buffon
Wednesday 16 May, 2007

Gigi Buffon has fuelled doubts about his Juventus future after insisting that being uncompetitive in Serie A will be worse than Serie B football.

The goalkeeper opted to remain with the giants after demotion last summer, but he has hinted that he may be on the move at the end of this campaign.

“The worst moments have yet to come now that we won’t be as competitive as the best sides in the top flight,” Buffon told a TV show on La7.

“We had a clear objective in Serie B and that was to achieve promotion as soon as possible,” added the World Cup winner, whose side needs just three points in four matches to go up.

“In Serie A, however, everything will be harder. It would be terrible for us to be unable to compete with Inter, Milan, Roma and Lazio.”

Buffon’s comments will be viewed by many as a clear signal to the club that they need to spend big in the summer, especially after he took a little swipe at officials for their actions last summer.

“I understand that some players had to go, especially the older ones, but letting Adrian Mutu and Gianluca Zambrotta leave was a big mistake,” he announced.

“They could have been very useful now for our return to Serie A.”

Meanwhile, some reports are claiming that Buffon and his girlfriend Alena Seredova are buying a villa on Lake Como which may suggest he is about to join one of the Milan clubs.

That rumor's been all over the Italian gossip pages today, R7. I've seen it in two or three places.

[Geographical note for those who may not be aware: Lake Como is about an hour's drive from Milan.]

I'll laugh for an entire month if Moggi was right about Buffon's future.

No... just because "Moggi knows better". biggrin.gif

Galliani said today: "No Buffon. Dida is staying and is our keeper."

So I believe this whole Buffon-rumour may be for real. rolleyes.gif

BUFFON: 'Milan have a great group'

COVERCIANO - Gigi Buffon had this to say after the Azzurri morning training session: 'Something went off inside of me when I saw the photos of the Athens final. It wasn't envy, but a profound esteem for Milan. It made me understand the importance of a group, how when you aren't the favourites certain values can transcend all others. Their success is moral more than anything else and I want to be able to do something similar with Juve.'

It looks like he may be staying afterall.

That's huge for Juve, without Buffon they would take a while to get back in to the title race. With Buffon, they could make an instant impact.

I'm getting tired of hearing about this crap, and I'm not speaking as a Milan fan. Buffon should either **** or get off the pot already, and quit using the media to play mind games with his club.

Buffon was gonna sign with Milan, had Milan lost the CL final. But since we won and Dida extended, he has no better option but to stay with Juve wink.gif

It's the only logical explanation. And the timing was just right for such an assumption biggrin.gif
