He came about during the Carlo era.

And Carlo never really gave a chance to anyone who's young. I remember him playing Ambro(!!!) at CF before playing anyone else there, that's how much he didn't trust youth.

At least this is one good thing that I really admire about Allegri

Wasn't that Willy Aubameyang who came about during Carlo's last years? I don't remember Pierre-Emerick, at all.

He had even said his objective was to re-join Milan this summer, but Milan showed no interest.

We'll bring him "back" in 2020 when he's 31 years old.

But they were both in the primavera team at the time right?
X-Offender
Willy is two years older (26).
Fillipo Simone
All three of them.

Willy was here from 2007, Catilina from 2002. Both were very bad. The youngest of them was Pierre-Emerik, who came in 2007.

So, Wolfsburg signed Luiz Gustavo, and they paid, hear hear, €22 million! Whilst we can't pay €10 million for Ljajic and €5 for Honda. rolleyes.gif

Wait...you know Wolfsburg means Volkswagen. And you know what VW means? So, I'm not surprised at all, of course they have almost near to infinitive resources.
X-Offender
Nah, it's got more to do with the fact that any team nowadays can spend big money for players, expect for us.

Maybe, but Wolfsburg isn't a good example. They're loaded with money.

Just switched to Schalke-Leverkusen, Boateng almost scored.

Dortmund are so fun to watch.

2 goals in 2 mins. Whatever front 4 they put out seem to be unplayable.

6-2, wow.

There were 3 of them in our youth system, the one currently at Dortmund is great, very fast and a great finisher to boot. Not to mention he was great in France also

Plus as an added bonus you'd appreciate him more in Fifa as his acceleration and sprint speed must be great, what can you do with Matri on there in all honesty? biggrin.gif

This one is the fastest of all three Aubameyangs. wink.gif That's one of the best traits you can have as a footballer.

Yeah, still not scored 20 league goals in a season, despite playing in a 2nd rate league, like mediocre Matri, what a failer.

Matri is at the end of his rope, Aubameyang still has more than enough time to accomplish that and he's looking well on his way to doing so in one of the best and most competitive leagues out there.

Matri did it when he was 26 and Pierre is already 24 and hasn't done it. Matri did it at Cagliari and a 7th placed Juve, not a dominant team, also.

Not saying Matri's great, just that this is another case of you massively overrating a player. Do you think Giroud is great too? Remy?

They are two different players with different characteristics. It is very easy to get drawn into an argument over who is better, but truth be told they are both 'good' players, nothing special to get winded-up on. Kurt is basing his theory on statistics, which speaks volumes with regards to Matri. While Pierre's stint in France shouldn't be highlighted all that much, as the overall quality of the French league is not on par with Serie A for example. Hence, much easier to shine over in France.

Now if the player can prove his merit in Germany, that is another thing altogether. But as of yet, it is his first season there.

But I'm not saying he's not a good player or that he can't become a very good one. But don't think you have to do more than what he has done to be considered a great player?

Or maybe we just define greatness differently.

Exactly. He's scored 40 goals in 120 games in France and he's considered great? He's a good player, but a long way from great yet. Matri had a better record for Juve than Aub has in his career and yet he was considered crap at Juve. Pick and choose I guess.
acid911
Maybe you guys are missing the point here a bit? unsure.gif Great here means that he is having a pretty nice run of form in his new team. That does not mean he is a world beater yet. Great in the truest sense of the word would mean a few from the top 20, 30 players in world football. Not all.

Even if the top 50 are world class, that does not make them great. And this Aub-whateverhisnameis is surely not one of them. It's just that he's in a great run of form. And that's hard to deny actually. Will it last? No one knows. But as of right now he isn't even a good player, just a pretty decent and handy one.
