So now that we defeated the merda we're back on the "we don't need anyone" way biggrin.gif rolleyes.gif dry.gif

Well that is it .. Flamini has left London for Milan tonight. Will go through the medical and be presented as a Milan player.

IMO, I think we got ourselves a good sub for Ringo/Ambro/Pirlo. Very good deal smile.gif

So, you actually think he left Arsenal and a starting spot for Milan's bench? I really hope you're right!

Well, he surely wont be ahead of Ambro, Ringo and Pirlo, for sure !

But maybe in the end .. Gattuso will leave .. Who knows, then he might be an alternative (though there is no alternative to Gattuso)

Again, I really hope you're right and he doesn't create problems in the locker room (assuming Rino supposed departure has nothing to do with him) innocent.gif

I don't get one thing... how can he be presented as a Milan player when he's still in contract with Arsenal?? I thought he'll be a free agent in June?

It's my understanding that players in the last 6 months of a contract are free to talk to other clubs and to sign contracts for the next season.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed after that the Rossoneri are close to signing Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini.

The 24-year-old midfielder, currently sidelined by an ankle problem, has yet to agree a new deal with the Gunners and is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he could walk away from the Emirates Stadium in the summer with Milan waiting to pounce.

Galliani said: "Flamini will arrive tonight in Milan and will sign a four year contract."

Flamini is expected to undergo a medical on Monday.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted on Sunday after his side's 1-0 win over Everton that he is "not super-confident" Flamini will still be at Arsenal next season.

Wenger expects the matter to be resolved early this week, but it is understood Flamini said his goodbyes to some staff as he left the car park after Sunday's win.

"Frankly, I don't know," said the Arsenal manager when asked about Flamini's future. "But if you ask me was I overall super-confident, I would say no.

"He has an offer on the table which is valid until Monday, then we will see.

"I am not confident, but also not worried. The situation is not in my hands.

"We have done what we had to do, it is now down to him to make a decision."

Wenger insists the matter has to be resolved one way or another.

"At some stage you have to make a decision and if he goes we have to look at our options," said the Arsenal boss.

"We can't wait until July. You could lose players if they come on the market.

"My ideal solution is that he stays, so I am not happy if he goes - but we've done everything we can."

Another player whose future could be resolved in the summer is veteran midfielder Gilberto, while goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is set to leave following an emotional farewell at the Emirates when the German came on as a second-half substitute.

Wenger said: "I would like Gilberto to stay, but I will have to sit down with him to see what he wants to do, and we go from there.

"He is a fantastic guy with a professional attitude. We won trophies with him and Jens because they are fantastic people."

Wenger added: "We will keep 95 per cent of the squad, but we might lose one or two."

well, he's gona be a great signing...emerson&brocchi are probably finished, i don't know what we'll do with 5 defensive mid's...while maybe we could have midfield 1(gattuso,pirlo,seedorf,kaka) and midfield 2 (brocchi/emerson,flamini,ambro.gourcuff)...just like in hockey tongue.gif

You really think we're paying him the ammount of money we are per week to sit his @ss on the bench??

Imo he's either a replacement for Rino or Ambro, ipersonally I would prefer Rino and Flamini, Ambro this season has been way off par and isn't trust worthy on the injury front since we all know that he can get injured and be out for months on end.

Flamini-Pirlo-Rino should be our starting midfield for next season.

That is ofcourse unless Rino leaves, which I'm quite sure won't happen.

Plus with the ammount of games we have to play there will be plenty of time for all of them to get more then their fair share of games under their belt
Rossoneri7
@han .. He is being payed that much because he is a free transfer

So what? That is still too much money to pay for a player you are going to keep on the bench. And frankly he is a good enough player to take either one of Rino's or Ambro's place.

Fact is Flamini will be a starter next season, this is what we all wanted Milan injected new blood into the team, and not just patching up holes that will open up again in a couple of months only bigger.

Flamini is a step in the right direction for Milan, a couple of yound signings in defence and another 1 or 2 in attack (depending on what happens with R9 and Gila) and we're good to go.

Just tell me this, you really expect him to sit on the bench next season?

I don't think anyone on here expects him to be anything less then a starter
Tennie
I'm not sure he's a guaranteed starter, han. I think he'll provide rotation possibility to the midfield -- which is something I think the team needs badly. So (assuming Gattuso stays), I expect to see Gattuso/Flamini/Ambro trading off.

Of course, I never said that he will play every game, I even mentioned the fact that Carlo will probably continually rotate all the defensive mids so that mo one gets burned out, even Pirlo could get rest since Flamini can play in his position better then any of our current defensive mids

But you have to acknowledge the fact that he will not be some sort of fringe player that will only come on when we need to rest either Ambro or Rino before big games. Maybe for the first couple of months until he settles down, but I personally expect him to become a first choice player eventually next season after those first crucial few months

Update from the Italian press: Flamini had his medical this morning and is currently visiting Milanello and meeting the lovely folks at Milan Lab. Assuming everything goes as planned, the signature-with-picture-holding-jersey should be tonight, Milan time.

MILAN, Italy (AP) - Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini underwent medical tests with AC Milan on Monday and was expected to sign a contract with the club.

Flamini spent three hours in a medical clinic in Como and the France midfielder then left for Milan's training center to continue tests at the club's in-house lab, the ANSA news agency reported.

The 24-year-old Flamini formed a strong midfield partnership with Cesc Fabregas at Arsenal, joining the London squad in 2004 from Marseille.

The Frenchman's contract with Arsenal expires at the end of this season.

At Milan, Flamini would team with Kaka, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso and Massimo Ambrosini in the Rossoneri's midfield.

glad it's all official i for 1 am glad to see him arrive i think he will freshen up our midfield and despite the words coming from Milan i believe Rino will leave in the summer for the EPL. i think he does have enough quality to occasionally sit in for Andrea in the smaller games giving him a rest.

For a guy who started the season as the 4th choice left back and who had to play a lot more than he or the club could have expected, I don't think Favster's done THAT poorly. Sure, we'd all love to have a mini-Zambrotta to whip out when Janku/Sergio/Il Capitano are hurt, but I don't think Favalli's embarrassed the jersey. Favster had a pretty good game yesterday until Rivas decided to sharpen his cleats on his ankle.

no, favalli has been playing great for me this season...good defensivly, decent in attack...but we missed the regular janku this year, and of coure best cross in the world from serginho...i don't think we need another left back, at least not for next season if serginho stays for another year(and plays more games then simic this year, so at least 5-sadly)

Ditto, Tritto, Quatritto, Pentatritto....Favallinho for life. A former Lazio captain, ex-Interista, and he has always played well, and not once been a disgrace. I think his age is held against him a little unfairly.

But I do believe we need a LB. Janku does not convince me over his fitness, and i'm not sure Sergio is staying another season. unsure.gif
