If anyone but Robben wins it, then it's a complete farce. unsure.gif
Linkman
Didn't Ribery win the best CL player award? He should be the favourite.
acid911
Yeah, but I think Robben scored the more vital goals, and was much more influential. smile.gif He was an absolute beast in the final stages of the competition, where it matter the most. It's easy to forget, just hope UEFA does not.

Soo, where does this leave Juve in terms of qualifying?

Madrid - 10
Copenhagen - 4
Galatasary - 4
Juventus - 3

Juve have played both of their games v Madrid, while the other 2 still have to play them. It's Juve's to throw away.
Jack Bauer
The away game vs Galatasaray on the last matchday will be decisive. Juve will (most probably) need a draw but it can easily went wrong for them there.

BTW, last time we failed to qualify from group stage was in 1999-2000 season. We needed to beat Gala away while this game meant nothing to them, we led 2-1 till final minutes but the turks scored two late goals and we finished last (Chelsea and Hertha were the other teams).

That's not easy to forget. I remember Weah score and play for Milan in his final season. Galatasaray went on to win the UEFA Cup that year. Zaccheroni years biggrin.gif

Yeah, and Giunti scored our second goal, his only Milan goal besides the one in famous 6-0 merda thrashing.

Varane tonight proved that while he's talented, he's really overrated.

He's 20, he's still raw. Don't think he's overrated at all yet though, has huge potential.

& is there any doubt Messi will win everything? Blatter has already publicly blasted Ronaldo so it's not really a case of a conspiracy, it's just the truth.
Jack Bauer
Doesn't matter what Blatter wants, "It is awarded based on votes by coaches and captains of international teams, as well as journalists from around the world." It will almost certainly be a Bayern player (Riberi probably), just like UEFA Best Player in Europe Award earlier this year.

Well Real are basically already through at this point, so I wouldn't put it past Carlo to go out there in the last 2 games with half @ssed sides like he used to do with us when we closed out the group with 2 matches to spare. I think that's where it could get dicey for Juve, Gala away isn't easy, they'll probably lose or draw that. So winning against Copenhagen in the next game will leave them with 6 points. It will probably go down to the final match day

Yup, I'm not actually that hard on Inter, they can go to the quarters and embarrass themselves, or something like that. But Juventus, the more these cheating and lying rats stumble, the batter. To their credit, they did provided pretty good entertainment a couple of years back. Fulham, was it? Classic!
Fillipo Simone
I'm actually harder on Inter. They are and always will be our main rivals.
han2503
If you look at football Italia, with the comments and articles about Juve. you'd think they won by a good margin against Real rolleyes.gif

This is how far the standard of Italian football as a whole has fallen, the Italian champions celebrating a draw like it's win
kurtsimonw
It's not often teams outplay Madrid. Home or away.

Yeah, well Inter are a club that we have caught and smothered before. smile.gif Juventus, with their whiny attitude and drug powered philosophy not so much. I don't particularly like them, though I consider Inter a ugly cousin. Juventus, I hate with a passion, particularly taking into account what most of their fans think of Milan and our players.

Still, it's not about that mostly, it's their reactions after it. I think a side like Juve should be aiming higher than being happy with a draw, no matter the opposition.

I felt like WE were even disappointed with the draw against Barca, and our standards are basically non-existent right now, so I don't get why they're so happy about a draw

I don't know what you're talking about. Remember Calciopoli? I'll never forget how they rigged the system and single-handedly won a bunch of league titles, catching up with us and seriously damaging in process the whole of Serie A.

Other then that, they're our rivals. History binds us with them in a bad way. Everyone in Italy who is a Milan fan would tell you this.

Oh, I remember Calcipoli alright, the last era where I was still game for football. happy.gif Thing is, we handed them a Scudetto or two, with our own mess. They had Ibra, but we had a massive team at that time, and with Juventus in the depths (remember who put them there), it was the perfect chance for us to catch both them and Inter.

Instead from around 2007 up until now, we've just been riding the waves, save for a mini project with Ibra and Silva, of sorts. You develop a good core, success almost always comes. In fact, we probably should never have let Ibra slip through at that time, for whatever it was worth. I'd much rather have preferred we signed him then.

That would surely have stopped Inter winning these bunch of league titles. mellow.gif But let's put it this way. For me, if we lose to Inter, it is not the end of the world. If we lose to Juventus, it darn sure is. Us trading blows with Inter while Juventus run away with titles year after year is not my idea of a good time, surely it is not.

I'm just painting a picture here, of course. All teams are rivals if we want to win a Scudetto any given year.

I'm hoping Ibra wins tbh. Also the prize should be spread out more i'm tired of the same people winning its season after season maybe it should include what they do on a international level Portugal and Argentina are no slouches. Unless of course it already does. Surely Ribery or Robben should win it this season or Ibra.

I don't know man. I'd rather have a Madonnina win then one against Juventus. Milan fans usually remember those matches more, and the atmosphere is more special.

As for Calciopoli, I think you got it wrong. We didn't exactly have a massive team: we had Sheva already gone, an aging midfield with Gourcuff as a sole fresh addition. The 06/07 season maybe was a miss that can be blamed on Ancelotti and the management, but overall, I don't see how Milan could have ended as a winner after Calciopoli. The affair hit us as well as Juve, pushing Inter forward with a big gap between us and them.

No, I won't forget that. Juventus may be sleazy with Moggi or nasty with Conte now, and the whole FIAT patronacy may be irritating, but I won't forget how Inter got away with trophies. No, no, no.

Can't fault you on that, man. biggrin.gif The atmosphere is infinitely more special during the derby, surely it is, from the stadium lights down to the player uniforms. That is why it is the best derby in the world, two evenly matched teams always, going at it in a heated contest with a historical context.

With Juventus, though I get a sense of revenge. And gloating, as the best team in Itlay.

Oh, I remember it one and all. sad.gif I recall every player we had during that time, and my point was that it while we were not strong back then, we had a chance to be. The 2007 CL dream win aside, those were just years of mismanagement, when we could have won a few titles, and stopped Inter from winning a couple. Squandered.

Heck, like I said, we should have done more to nab Ibra's signature back then, at all costs. We were close.

I'm pretty sure the last time we failed to qualify was in 00/01 or 01/02. Our last game in the group was against Deportivo at San Siro, and we had to win at all cost. We ended up drawing 0-0 or 1-1, can't remember. I think it was by the time Zaccheroni was fired.

*goes to check*

Well, it was actually the second group stage, as then you had two group stages and then quarters, semis and final. But yeah, I was about right. biggrin.gif

Well I told you as good a coach Pep is, he is prone to forcing his ideas upon teams. sleep.gif This may just be the first incident, and Bayern may be ripping each team a new one in the German league, but it is just the start. More aggressive implementation, and not so positive response from the team, can result in a comedy of errors.

At least with someone like Mourinho, Ancelotti, SAF and more you get the traditional coaching deal.

1-0 FT

I feel bad for Juve. They were the better team, but in such impossible conditions the goal can come in any way. That being said, winning only one game in the group for the Italian champions is unacceptable, so I guess it's their own fault in the end.

So, Juve out, Napoli almost out, if we fail tonight then no Italian teams in the Round of 16. How messed up would that be?

Reflective of the poor quality of the league imo

Yes Napoli have improved a lot, but if you look closely most of the other teams are basically the same as last season, Roma downgraded from the quality they had last season while Napoli didn't take care of key areas of the pitch like defence and midfield. Hamsik is out and they're basically an entirely different team

And when the champions of Italy, the team who's already basically run away with the league can't win a CL game to save their lives then enough said
