QUOTE (Zed.D @ Apr 9 2014, 01:14 PM) *
Chelsea attacked like a pack of wolves, great display. also Cech's last minute save is worth mentioning as it decided who went through. it could easily have been PSG.

PSG are like Chelsea 5 years ago. their time will come with the right manager.

Also, Cavani is a but overrated. he's very very good but a great player shouldn't miss chances like he did. just look at Reus...

+1

Agreed on everything.

Chances Reus is still a Dortmund player come September?

I think he'll stay. Why would they sell both Lewandowski and Reus? That would basically end all their chances.

I get the impression they aren't a very wealthy club and with them not getting any money for Lewandowski, it wouldn't surprise me if someone came in with a 35m or so bid and they sold.

No, he's not. I've seen him play for years at Napoli and he's been a fantastic striker. Just cos he might have had a stinker last night doesn't imply anything.

He'll probably leave in 2015. One star player at a time.

Yep. People said the same about Ibra for so many years.

What X-O said. They're not rich, but I don't think they're in dire problems as well.

Yes, but at PSG he's not doing as expected. He has still much to learn and prove. It's not just yesterday, it was the first leg as well. And many other PSG matches.
kurtsimonw
To be fair he's not really being played in his favoured position. He's played wide a bit. They mentioned a stat last night, in the 5 games he's played that Ibra hasn't, he's scored 7 goals.

Barca losing, no one commenting. Who'd have thought it biggrin.gif
kurtsimonw
EVRAAAAAAAAA!
kurtsimonw

At least no Bayern or Barca through yet. Always a good thing.
Milan Are Brilliant
That Evra goal was ridiculous!
kurtsimonw
No foul given on the keeper, which Neuer has been given the benefit of a few times, and Bayern lead. Shocker.

If Ribery is one of the best footballers, Robben is the best ever.

Robben is class. Ribery is good, but his hype is pretty embarrassing.

Robben is an icon. king.gif Ribery comes nowhere close, particularly in terms of raw talent. Robben almost always delivers, whether one expects him to or not. Even though I wanted United to progress today, but just how many times Robben went in as a lone ranger in the heart of Manchester (and finally scored) was a joy to behold.
kurtsimonw
How do you lose a game with Darren Fletcher in your midfield?
Fillipo Simone
Both are important, both bring in something extra. Ribery is a choker, but he's still vital. Robben (icon?) is a selfish arrogant pr@ck, but he's the best at his game.

Icon, yes, of playing the simple game. The way it's meant to be played. smile.gif I like seeing football like that, the way I used to play as a kid. You score, I score. This tactic heavy game is not something I overly enjoy, matches where coaches decide the outcome. You figure a coach out, you pretty much figure out the opposition.

Best at his game, yes, you said it, even if overall there have been better players than him in his position over the years. He is even a tad predictable in how he cuts in and shoots, but the guy is a joy to watch. biggrin.gif Not complaining!
acid911
By the way, wouldn't actually mind Bayern vs Athletico and Madrid vs Chelsea next. cool.gif Athletico and Chelsea progressing to the final, and the Spanish team winning it. I was rooting for Dortmund and Athletico in the final, with the German winning, but that darn goal post killed it. Let's see what the draw brings!

It's Atletico actually wink.gif

I wanted PSG in the final, now I want it to be Atletico vs Bayern. You really wanna widen the gap between Real and us with another win? I love Carlo, but Milan is still my one and only priority. So it's either Atletico or Bayern for me, Chelsea not being considered for obvious reasons.

Oh, and while at it, seems like we've got embarrassed by a pretty good team. Who'd expect them to be in the semis?

Widen the gap, no I would rather see Real out in the semifinal. unsure.gif Carlo is a fine guy, but Madrid fans are almost as annoying as Barcelona ones, and while Real Madrid has provided some pretty good entertainment (alongside Juventus) these past few years, with their comical displays, I want to see one more.

So my choices actually come down to just Atletico (obviously), Chelsea (next), Bayern (third, because I'd rather see us being the club that won the CL twice in a row, defended the title) and then Real Madrid. mellow.gif Be pretty mind numbing to see their fans celebrate La Decima, or whatever it is called, I think.

I don't even consider their first five CL wins, they were a joke. Even Alex Ferguson thought so when he said that he rated Milan ahead of Madrid in Europe, because those early five wins were just pretty, well, pathetic.

I actually thought they possessed a good cohesive unit. smile.gif Despite that I figured we just might topple them over with the team (and big name players) we had. Not to be, obviously, when you don't have a system working. Just result, not complaining. Atletico are special, we could have been too, all things considered.

Exactly. sleep.gif Besides, Atletico winning it would make for quite a run. I've believed for a few years that the team that defeats Barcelona can (and should) go all the way. Inter did it, Chelsea too, let's just hope for the best.

Would have preferred one big team and one small one, but will take this draw too. smile.gif Cracking encounters:

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid
Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid

Atletico vs Bayern final? With the Spanish team winning it? Sign me up, Scotty!

Yeah, let's hope. happy.gif Atletico do seem to have the force behind them, just like the one we had in 2007, Chelsea in 2012, Inter, Dortmund and some select few other teams. Besides, they defeated Barcelona in a knockout tie, that is usually good enough to win the whole darn thing, as Inter, Bayern and Chelsea showed.

Cristiano is said to be out of the home tie, and probably even the away leg, so Madrid is probably done for. Either way, it is not all that easy to defeat Bayern Munich in two legs. Finals are another matter entirely.
Rossoneri7
Ooo !! Bayern and Madrid devil.gif

Com'on Carlo ! Though it would be extremely difficult to push Bayern aside, they have a gifted squad, rich in experience and high on confidence, add to that one of the most highly decorated coaches in the game, that will be one tough bout!

Atletico should get the better of Chelsea, IMHO, Atletico have a momentum going for them and reaching this stage of the competition is not an easy feat. Let alone qualifying by knocking out Barcelona.

Atletico are the new "cool" team to like, but my God they're incredibly dirty. Not shocking given their manager I suppose, but if they want a physical game then there are few that will give it better than Chelsea.
Linkman
I think Chelsea have an amazing midfield so they won't have issues there. Now, if Sammy Eto'o is in style for the match, then I'd put my money on the Blues.

Diego Costa is decent but he makes Suarez look like a Saint.
