The Argentina/Maradona thing was just an example of a label that gets thrown around all the time, not where I thought Suarez was from.
Was a funny comment on the Liverpool forum I read earlier, something along the lines of: "Carroll for £35m is too much, £22m for Suarez is too much. But £57m for both is good business."
Eh? Not sure the math, or logic, quite works out in that one.

In the interest of fairness, I'll post something by a Liverpool fan who isn't 'special'.
QUOTE
Carroll is not worth 35 million no matter what way we try to explain it, this sounds all to familiar to the silly explanations some on here made for the Johnson fee.
If Roy had spent 35mill on Carroll and lost Torres for £50mill this place would be going bananas and rightly so, its nice that there is finally a bit of optimism on these boards but deep down I think most would admit we were robbed.
His goals and stats in the championship last year with a dominant Newcastle team were no better than a 16year old Nicklas Bendtner when he was on loan with Birmingham, and his off-field antics are frightening. This has the potential to be one of the worst transfers in English football history.

Yes, Harry, you could have took him. How could anyone ever resist the pull of playing for Spurs?

Stockport at home for Torquay in 10 minutes, back to reality. (I would post that elsewhere but I don't think a '[EN] League 2 10/11' thread would be that active

It wasn't a good game at all. I know 5 goals sounds good, but it was boring, really boring. ou'd be hanging yourself over some of the officiating as well, 2 of Stoke's goals never should have counted. Thankfully they did!

at Arsenal being 3-0 up in 10 minutes against Newcastle, they are in big danger now. Why didn't they bring in a striker? Even if they didn't sell Carroll they were weak upfront and he was already known to be injured for a fair while.

It's still criminal. At 4-0 you play the game out, make no risks. Getting sent off is asking for trouble. Didn't see the game anyway so I'm not commenting on the performance, just the stupidity of Diaby.

Apparently, apparently Nolan did something very similar (well he threw one over, not 2) to Diaby at 4-1 when trying to retrieve the ball. Gives Arsene something to cling onto potentially. This might just be that for the title for them now, if United win this evening.
For comical value Stockport didn't get a shot on target against Torquay all game, things could be worse I guess.

I'm not kidding here. I honestly believe this. There are only two teams in England who on their day can beat Barcelona at their best. Newcastle and Tottenham. These two teams have a serious Incredible Hulk syndrome. You count them out at your peril.
That being said, I can almost promise that Newcastle will suck balls in their next match. To quote Timbaland, "I like you just the way you are!"

Them 2 and Stoke are probably the only 3 teams that couldn't ever beat Barca, they're too direct - too long ball - and can't retain the ball, Barca would have 99% posession against them,
