I don't think he will...for one. Does Cafu..at one time, the best RB in the world make a fuss now.

Besides it's not like Pippo's gone lame. He can always contribute. It's just that he needs Seedorf. biggrin.gif

i wish i could agree with you, but as zd mentioned 2 league goals in 12 months isnt exactly impressive...

i mean it's clear what we need to do, holding on to players like pippo is only going to hinder us.

i thought Tuesdays match vs. arsenal was clear evidence of this.
Zed.D
I wouldn't mind if Pippo retired at the end of the season and Sheva came instead. a 35yo out, a 32yo in. can't be a bad idea...

[of course with the exception of that world class striker we've been waiting for some time now]
Tennie
Here's a link to Pippo's second goal today:

Not too damn bad for a 34 year old's first game back from a lengthy injury.

Pippo really is an immortal. 96.gif 96.gif 96.gif

We need Inzaghi to hang around for a bit so he can teach the young guns something, Paloschi did and still learns from Pippo and i am assuming Pato is learning bits from him aswell

Pippo has that killer instict, that in todays football very rarely someone has.

Pippo's now on ten goals for the season. 9 of those 10 have come from the last five games.

He's giving Donadoni lots of selection headaches for the Euros. I'd love to see him there as backup for Luca Toni.
Jack Sparrow
Me too. He's 10x better than Iaquinta, when it comes to being effective. And he can play with Luca Toni or Natale or both. biggrin.gif

Yeah, but he isnt as flexible as Di Natale or Iaqqy. I would like to see him go anyway as he has the potetial to change a game unlike, Borriello or Quagliarella at the moment

It's a great come back from Pippo, he scored 9 goals in 5 games and is decisive again cool.gif Thank you Pippo king.gif

Was it me? unsure.gif

No, Pippo is made of anther steel, he's like Gerd Muller, that kind of poacher that manages to score impossible goals and misses the easiest things tongue.gif biggrin.gif Some times I like to think that he could never have been the same players he is now if he stayed with the zebras, they would have probably thrown him away long time ago rolleyes.gif that what gives Milan the edge over all the other great clubs in the world, it's called class baby cool.gif king.gif

Pippo on Controcampo last night (translation courtesy of acmilan.com's english page):

"Our primary objective was to reach the fourth place, then clearly we wanted to give our fans a great match against a special opponent. We played very well, Inter were mentally in a better position than us, the pressure was all on us, Milan were the ones with everything to lose. In any case I'm already looking forward, on Sunday at Naples we are playing for the Champions League."

"I must be infinitely grateful to my team mates, this Milan exalts my characteristics and plays to perfection for a striker. There are no problems with the club, Adriano Galliani has given me the privilege to decide when and how to leave this club, it's a possibility that's given to few people and it's worth more than a contract extension."
Jack Sparrow
This guy is just amazing...no words! Super Pippo doesn't quite say it.

34 years old, and he plays like he's 15. He'll celebrate his 150th goal as if it's the first goal he's ever scored in his career. king.gif

Italy profit from Inzaghi's late bloom

Filippo Inzaghi's dramatic return to goalscoring form means Alessandro Del Piero is no longer the only old hand gunning for a place in Italy's UEFA EURO 2008â„¢ squad.

Remarkable run
Injuries have restricted Inzaghi to just 12 league starts for AC Milan this term, but the evergreen 34-year-old may have timed his latest purple patch to perfection as far as Italy coach Roberto Donadoni is concerned. Inzaghi's crucial goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over FC Internazionale Milano extended his remarkable run to nine goals in his last five matches – sending a timely message to the Azzurri coach. "Donadoni already knows me well," Inzaghi said. "It's up to him to decide if I would be useful to the squad or not."

'Excellent form'
Inzaghi's 99th goal for the Rossoneri helped the club overtake ACF Fiorentina in Serie A, moving into fourth place and the final UEFA Champions League position, as well demonstrating his undiminished ability to score against top-level opponents. The former Juventus man found the net three times in the latest qualifying campaign and is desperate to show off his nose for goal in Austria and Switzerland. "I'm not saying I should be selected just because I've scored a few goals recently, but I was already part of the qualifying campaign," Inzaghi said. "I've had some physical problems this season but my current form is excellent. I'd really love to get the chance to score more goals for my country."

Experience
Luca Toni nevertheless remains the favourite to lead the Italy attack in Donadoni's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, with Genoa CFC's Marco Borriello – the joint-leading scorer in Serie A with 19 goals – regarded by many as ideal back-up for the FC Bayern München striker. But like Del Piero, whose 18 league goals and terrific form with Juventus has significantly boosted his chances, Inzaghi knows his wealth of experience may work in his favour. And on current form, Donadoni might find it difficult to overlook one of the game's great poachers.

WOuld be the perfect end for his international career. Forza Pippo!
Tennie
So Donadoni didn't call Pippo up for the Euros. I think it's a mistake.

Thing is, the U23s are short of strikers -- Pozzi's still recovering from knee surgery, Acquafresca's out with injury, etc etc. So there may be a need for a striker for the Olympics.

Anyone think there's a chance Casiraghi'd call Pippo up as one of the 3 permitted over-23s for the Italian Olympic team?

Well there are, sort of, two Pippos. biggrin.gif Pippo Jr. who goes by the name of Simone Inzaghi. He's no way near our number 9 level, but I heard Jaap Stam say that the Inzaghi brothers were the worse players he's ever been on a pitch with. Something like that.
Tennie
Yep, he wrote that in his biography. And then Karma read the book. Stam ended up playing alongside both Inzaghi brothers in turn: Simone at Lazio and then Pippo at Milan. biggrin.gif
acid911
Yeah, he wrote this in his Manchester days. Wonder whether his opinions changed since? laugh.gif In any case, I'm not sure he'd have bought both the Inzaghi brothers any beer during his time with them. Or cookies for that matter. No sirree.

Certainly he's one of my favorites... classic finisher. He doesn't score beautiful goals... but he scores when necessary with few touches... he's one of the most effective finishers I've ever seen. I wish him a full recovery so he can come back in good spirits.
