Anyway, happy birthday goofy! Too bad he may not be there to open the scoring for us this season in Serie A.

Think again, he'll be back for the Juve match (mid August) devil.gif

Supperpippo is what they call Super Goofy in Italian. smile.gif
milanista1899
I'm still lost who's Super Goofy? huh.gif
Tennie
Hee. Well, if you watch disney cartoons in Italian, Super Goofy (the cartoon character) is 'Super Pippo'.

milanista1899
Oh right, I thought he was just called Goofy. Ok laugh.gif that's dumb. While I'm at it, they change all kinds of shows' & films' names, they should just leave things be or it's bound to end in confusion!

Oh, Goofy is called Goofy, of course. It's just that he had a bit of a stint as 'Super Goof' in some Disney comic book series, and there are a couple of reasons why they call Inzaghi this. wink.gif Nicking his first name out, it comes to Pippo (which is also the nickname of Super Goof himself). Plus, take a look at these images below and see whether you see a bit of our Inzaghi in it: The way he celebrates. I think this guy looks as if he scored a goal in the CL final himself:

So it's Super Goof tuh thuh rescue, alright! tongue.gif I just wish he stayed more injury free. Oh, and thanks for coming to the rescue, Tennie (pun always intended). Hehe.

So is Pippo still signed with Milan? laugh.gif Or has he left? With new strikers on board, people seem awful forgetful of him, his injury withstanding. No news, views, reviews, etc for Pippo, huh?

He is the most lethal in box striker, when on form. So give him time to get back, and we will see what he can do in the big games wink.gif

EDIT: for got to add this part tongue.gif - There are news on his medical situations, but he has never been on the news a lot even before. I guess it is just that there is so much to choose from upfront, that he is no longer in the center of our attention. But make no mistake, a Shevchenko - Inzaghi partnership at some point in the season will be one of the highlights of the season for me cool.gif

Looks like Pippo's got his shooting boots on these days. 2 games, 2 goals. Not so bad for an old guy. 96.gif
TriniKing_CE
Not too bad at all!
Rivaldo
Just Phenomenal player. Only Pippo may play and score this way and he always plays well after injuries)))
Nesta

Hey Inzaghi , why don't you drop your shooting boot for pato to come and take over from you.

Inzaghi To Sign Contract Extension - Report

Milan goal machine Filippo Inzaghi looks poised to extend his Rossoneri adventure for another season, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Superpippo moved to Milan from Juventus in 2001, after four years spent in Turin, for a fee in the region of €37m.

The lethal marksman’s stint in Italy’s fashion capital has been ravaged by injuries, particularly over the past few seasons, but Pippo has nonetheless contributed a great deal to the Diavoli’s cause, netting 57 goals in Serie A, and scoring a fundamental brace in the 2006-2007 Champions League Final in Athens, that saw the Diavoli lift the prestigious trophy for the seventh time.

The former Parma striker’s deal was set to run out at the end of June 2009, but Inzaghi had always stated his desire to call it a day in a Milan shirt.

And the Italian sports Bible reports today that Vice President Adriano Galliani has offered Pippo a one-year contract extension and, even though he has yet to put pen to paper, the Gazzetta expects the hitman to rubber stamp the deal over the next few weeks.

‘High Tension’ was also part of Marcello Lippi’s side that won the 2006 World Cup, bagging a goal in the third group game against the Czech Republic.

I personally don't see it as a good move for the club. If Milan were to treat him as what he truly is, a bonus striker and squad player rather then an integral part of the team then I would have no problem with Pippo extending his contract. But for Galliani to still think of Pippo as a first team player which is important during the entire season will hold us back both from buying a new younger striker. And when Pippo is fit Carlo will play him ahead of Pato or Boriello. It just doesn't sit well with me.

Not to mention the other old players we have who will expect extensions since Pippo got one. Players like Favalli, Puma and Pippo imo need to move on after this season. Milan need to let go of the past and start moving ahead. There is no use in keeping these players on and paying their wages when they are out injured for more then 3 quarters of the season.

I think Pippo has earned his place in Milan. His game was never based on physical strength nor speed, rather positioning and prowess inside the 18-yard box, and in that sense there is no one better.

I'm not saying that he should go no matter what. I'm saying that he should only stay if the board acknowledg that we still need someone to cover for him next season whether he stays or not. If they choose to acknowledge this I have no problems with Pippo staying but if Pippo stays and there is no one else coming in, it would mean that Pippo is holding us back

He spends 3/4 of the season on the treatment table, someone like him should be counted as a bonus not as a firm regular first 11 player.

That's all I'm saying.

As for Puma and Favalli, I'm dead serious about those 2, they need to leave next summer we shouldn't hold on to dead weight any longer. Get rid of Puma, do anything you can to bring Yoann back. Get rid of Favalli and promote Albertazzi from the youth team, I've seen him play he's really talented and a bright prospect

FORZA PIPPO ! He could stay as long as he wants. His game isn't influenced by age. He's been great this season and nobody even talked about him when Sheva, Dinho and Borriello arrived at Milanello.

As for Favalli - he'll leave for good. Emerson is about to extend his contract, but that's okay. He's definetely better than Favalli and has at least won some trophies before coming to Milan.

I believe Fester mentioned it about a month ago. There's nothing official yet, but it makes the perfect sense. I mean, what's Favalli still doing here? And once again - Favalli is even worse than Emerson.

I like Favalli.

*runs away*
acid911
Favallinho always gives 100% to his potential. FACT. Now don't get me started on what his potential is. tongue.gif That's why I prefer to keep him as first-choice sub. This is something even he knows, unfortunately, as his 8 caps for the Azzuri can testify. What's worse, he took Zamborghini's number shirt 19, which is plain unfair, even though he looks like his brother, he is not, so he should return it.

Besides, you have to type his whole name in Wikipedia. Favalli alone won't get you anywhere. That's one measure of a person's popularity. biggrin.gif Gotta type his whole name, Giuseppe Favalli, always, which is frankly a waste of keystrokes and precious keyboard time that could be used to slurp some cold slurpee.

I could probably go on, but these are some of the reasons why he doesn't top my list of favorite players, him being an Italian legend and all, he'll always be the twelfth-man. wink.gif Which in a club like us, isn't such a bad thing to be. Do I want to see him in Milan? You bet. Do I want to see him starting every match, when better choices are available? I'll need a rain check on that, one, sorry. Sure he has a couple of good points as well, like the fact that he's from the 80s - that's always fun to know in a man. And the fact that he still has his 'inter.it' profile page on inter's website speaks volumes about his success. Even though he plays for Milan. AC, that is.

Forza Favalli! devil.gif The man who gave his 100%. Always!
