Always imagined his 200th Milan appearance differently, but heck, congrats to Superpippo anyway!
Rossoneri7
Well this is rather expected .. Was I Inzaghi, I would do a Tevez on Allegri.

Not only is he one of my all-time favorites, I love this player to no ends. Sure he is 38, he has nothing more to add to an already bolstered front-line, but he is Super Pippo. The one we, Milan Fans, look too when the going got tough. He produced magic in that 18-yard box and no one can compare to his predatory instincts.

Allegri has done wrong, Ronaldinho I don't really care about ... But Inzaghi is a different matter all together. I go to Milan games, where Pippo doesn't even make the bench and the Curva almost always chant his name, I look at the by-line to see if he is warming up .. But no, it is out of affection for this champion which Allegri chooses to disgrace by sending in for a measly 1.5mins.

It surely is hard-times for this champion of ours, a player who I hold fond memories of. A player who made Champions League taste differently for me. I awaited his return from injury, I chocked on the fact Allegri excluded him from his most preferred competition eluding myself that the likes of Maxi Lopez were better suited ... But 1.5 mins and in extra time?

There is no justification and I doubt Allegri could give a ****.
TriniKing_CE
Pippo is too classy to 'pull a Tevez', besides even if he wanted to he couldn't.

He just loves Milan and the fans too much, and at the end of the day he just wants to get on that field and play some damn football.

You can see every time in which he is given these 'spare change' of minutes that all he wants to do is score and celebrate one more time for us.

I have no problem with Allegri choosing not to play Pippo given that he is past his best years, and we have others to play the part now.

However, like many of you, the part which is annoying to me is the way of which Allegri chooses to handle the situation.

Pippo Inzaghi is almost certain to end his Milan career this summer, but as his brother confirms, not his playing career.

Inzaghi, who will be 39 by the start of next season, has barely featured for the Rossoneri this season, having struggled for fitness and then to convince Coach Massimiliano Allegri of more playing time.

With Pippo set to leave the club this summer, his brother Simone, a retired striker and now Coach of the youth team at Lazio, has revealed that this doesn’t spell the end of his playing career.

“Pippo has made history with Milan and is genuinely impacted by his departure,” reflected Simone Inzaghi to Tuttomercatoweb.

“He is grateful to the Rossoneri for what they have done, but I think there is also gratitude from the club and the fans for him too.

“Pippo is still physically fit and knows he can play on for a couple more years. Managed in the right way he can still give so much to football.

“This year he had expected to play a bit more, but saying that, he was recovering from a very bad injury.

“He’s not decided on his future yet, but he is aware that he can still give so much to the game.”

This is how you do it, Andy Panda. mad.gif angry.gif realmad.gif Oh, I meant Andy P. Bravo Inzaghi. Even though I think you delayed the inevitable by a couple of years, I can only wish you luck wherever you decide to go. And take my advice, head for the Middle East for a season or two. They love you there, in case you did not know!
Fillipo Simone
America. I can see him playing with Nesta, Del Piero and Henry in one team.

Wouldn't it be magnificent if Del Piero and Pippo would pair up for one more exciting adventure? Any league, any time, I'd follow them.
Jack Sparrow
Definitely. Would be even cooler if there was an 'exhibition match' between Juve and NYRB..and Pippo+Del Piero against the Juve that they once carried! king.gif
han2503
At this point I think watching the NY Red Bulls will be a far more emotional experiance for me than watching what this Milan has turned into.

Wasn't Henry part of the team back when ADP and Super Pippo played together?

Pippo is leaving. His official goodbye letter from the official website:

QUOTE
Everything that you’re about to read is secondary to this. The first and foremost thing that I want you all to know is I played and won for "us". Playing and winning without sharing the emotion is nothing, but you and me, us, we did it all together. We hoped, suffered, celebrated and rejoiced. We lifted cups and won titles together in our hearts. We have always been on the same wavelength. And no one can ever take that away from us.

Dear Milan fans, when I got to the club you didn’t know this. I was in a hotel room and couldn’t leave so as not to compromise the negotiations between Juventus and Milan. The first weeks, the first months, you studied me and we watched each other.

Then we fell in love. That evening against Torino. You were angry, things weren’t going well on the field and you were in silence. I started warming up and the roar you gave me made us win the match, pushing us into the Champions League and towards that final in Manchester. These memories as well as all those who consoled me in the difficult months of 2004 and 2005 and the shivers down the spine that we felt on 9 August 2006, my birthday against Stella Rossa will always be in the bedside drawer of my heart.

Athens. Football given to us for one reason: me and you, us, we wanted is so strongly, so intensely that it had to be given. Of course the reality went beyond our wildest dreams. 2 goals, against Liverpool, 2 years after Istanbul, the seventh Champions League. Destiny gave us more than we had dared hope.

Today I would like to thank with affection and emotion President Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani: their electricity and their ability to transmit emotion for me made me stronger and pushed me beyond any and all limits. But I also want to give a thought to those who, from the youth sector to all the wonderful clubs that I’ve played for, helped me to become the man and the player that I am today.

Thank you Milan, thank you football. Allow me to call you my own, the people of Via Turati, from Milanello to the offices to the phone operators to the warehouse workers, the physiotherapists, the doctors, the cooks, from the stadium to the changing room. All the people who saw me on Sunday with the short sleeves and shook with the hope that I would score. Ciao Carlo Ancelotti, I won a lot with you. Ciao to my wonderful fans who followed me the world over with affection and passion. Ciao to my team mates from today and yesterday.

Last of all allow me to thank my family, my mother Marina, my father Giancarlo, Simone and Tommaso. I never would have got here without you. You’re my strength. My dear Milan, I’m leaving you only because that the way life goes. The moment has come and you know it as well.

Ciao and thanks to everyone,

Pippo Inzaghi.

Please excuse me. I think I need to have a cry. Pippo Mio! cry.gif

What a classy motherfucker. Ciao! Please grab Nesta and both of you come to the MLS. I'll drive the 8 hours to NYC if need be.

A true hero to the fans. Even though he hasn't given much in the last couple of years (injuries and Allegri), he's always been an idol amongst supporters. Love you, and farewell. king.gif
Zed.D
I know I always was amongst those who asked for the team to be rejuvenated over the past few years, but this is too much. cry.gif did they all have to do it at the same freakin' time?...

I consider that goodbye letter to be Pippo's last gift to Milan. it's a beautiful gift.

PIPPO INZAGHI will no longer SEGNA PER NOI. Sad but inevitable moment. It's much sadder that we're replacing guys like Zambrotta, Nesta, Rino, Seedorf and Pippo with Taiwo, Acerbi, Traore etc.

What a legend. I'll be wishing we score one last time tomorrow.

Yes,an epic celebration for one last time in our shirt!

Does Pippo still hold the CL record for most goals? I know it was touch and go with Raul for a while, no idea who the top scorers are now.

Pippo was one of the best poachers ever, probably the absolute best.

Missed so many chances, but never stopped trying, and good luck to him in his future career.

Allegri treated him like shite this year tbh, but never a single complaint.

I believe he's at 70, while Raul finished at 75. smile.gif But who cares, Messi will overtake them all in a few years.

In the Champions League only, Raul has 71 goals and Pippo has 50. In all European competitions, Raul has 77 and Pippo has 70.
Zed.D
Raul is much younger. but he gave up much sooner. I don't know why he should play in Qatar when he could do well in another Schalke level team and improve his CL record.

Though, as acid said, Messi will overtake him well before he's 30 anyway.

Chicago Fire offer for Inzaghi

Pippo Inzaghi’s playing career might not be over after all, as he’s reportedly considering a proposal from Chicago Fire.

The veteran striker is out of contract this summer after 10 years at Milan and has hinted he could hang up his boots.

However, there are suggestions Chicago Fire have offered him a deal worth $2m per season to become a player and manager of their youth team.

SuperPippo also has bids from LA Galaxy and Brazilians Vasco da Gama.

Inzaghi scored the winner against Novara on his final Serie A appearance and will turn 39 in August.

Galliani has offered to Inzaghi the role of coach of the Allievi Nazionali (Under 16), and Pippo said he'll consider it. He's currently studying to become a coach.

"I'll try to become a coherent and sincere coach, because I think that's how a player will never reproach you anything"

I'd say he's a better player as well.

In terms of pure footballing talent, that's quite debatable. unsure.gif Inzaghi is a scorcher, a player with limited skillset and movement but lethal eye for goal. Ibra is another monster entirely. He can create, curl, run, dribble, and hit dead balls. Besides, the physical attributes are very different for both the players.

I've been seeing them for a mouthful of years, Inzaghi since his Juventus days when he used to play with some extremely talented forward lineup, and Ibrahimović since his time at Ajax. Comparing the careers of the poacher and the forward, I'm more tilted towards Ibra when it comes to deciding who is a better player between the two.

But let's just say Inzaghi is more electrifying, and Zlatan an out-and-out powerhouse.
