Can anybody say Arsenal?

Top proven striker, very young team. Doomed to fail.

Comparing Arsenal to Madrid?

Water and wine... like Lazio to Milan.

I don't think it matters who they sign.

Without Beckham they wouldn't have come close to winning the league, he made about 6 assists in the last 3 games. rolleyes.gif

People always think Madrid need an attacking coach to match their attacking payers, that's a big mistake. You need a defensive coach, you're attacking players are going to do what's naturel to them anyways and go forward. At least with a defensive coach you're going to set up and equipped better to defend.

Just like it worked with Capello both times, it's no coincidence. rolleyes.gif

It wouldn't be unexpected for Real to win the CL next season... especially if they make some good transfers this summer.

You'd really like to see the whole thing repeated... I myself hope they fail miserably!

Capello axed by Real!

Real Madrid have parted company with Fabio Capello less than a fortnight after he led them to their first La Liga title in four years.

The news comes as little surprise after weeks of speculation in the Spanish Press, but it still seems a strange move by the European giants after their League success last term.

Bernd Schuster seems almost certain to replace the ex-Juve tactician after being released from his contract with Getafe yesterday.

In spite of his eventual success at the Bernabeu, Capello failed to win the hearts of the fans due to his brand of pragmatic football and he had several public spats with President Ramon Calderon.

Today’s announcement was vague as to the reason for the first dismissal of Don Fabio’s impressive career.

“The directors at Real Madrid are grateful for all that has been achieved over the past season, but have decided not to continue with Capello as Coach,” director of sport Pedja Mijatovic explained.

“We don’t think that he is the right person to continue our project.”

Capello’s future remains unclear, but he has suggested in recent weeks that the Real Madrid job may be his last in management.

The Spanish press is reporting that Villareal has sold Riquelme & Forlan to Atletico.

Looks like El Nino will be learning Scouse. smile.gif

Bad for him!! I can't wish him to fail cause that would annoy Max so I just wish he scores a lot... but he doesn't win anything!

Good deal for Atlético (Riquelme & Forlán)! If Agüero also develops as expected then they'll have a decent squad next season!! smile.gif

Villa's summer is going even better than Milan's.

Hughes, Samuel, McCann out.

Forlan, Sneijder, Drenthe, Reo-Coker, Nugent, Barton and Babel have all either been sold or won't come. What's the point of having a billionnaire owner if no one will join you. sad.gif

Great news for Athletico though. They're going to have some serious players in an attacking sense. Forlan, Aguero, Petrov, Maxi, Riquelme. ohmy.gif

Abidal is almost a Barcelona player... could that mean Zambrotta's way out is now open?? I hope so... and I hope Milan get him if that's really the case!

Getafe say Schuster has not been released as reported earlier today... unsure.gif

Barcelona Confirm Abidal Capture

FC Barcelona have announced that they have agreed to sign Éric Abidal from Olympique Lyonnais as their summer rebuilding programme continues at full tilt.

The French international revealed that he will complete his medical tomorrow, before signing a four year contract, after the club had stated that a deal had been reached.

After spending several days in the Catalan capital, Abidal will become the Blaugrana's third signing of the summer after Thierry Henry and Yaya Touré were presented earlier this week.

The 27-year-old said officially that he was on holiday in Barcelona, but in reality he was waiting for negotiations with Lyon to be resolved and a deal to be announced.

"The negotiations have been long but now it's done and I'm very happy to play for Barcelona," he told Barça TV.

"Tomorrow morning (Friday) I will undergo a medical and then sign for the club.

"I have spent the last few days in Barcelona on holiday This has allowed me to familiarise myself with the city, the character of the place and the culture of the people."

Abidal won three consecutive French league titles with Lyon following his move from Lille in 2004 and he is an established member of the national team.

Barça have been long-time admirers of the full-back and lengthy negotiations saw the Catalan giants force the fee down.

Lyon originally wanted around €20m, while Barça opened with a bid of €12m before the two sides reached a deal this week.

I wasn't talking about that. I mean this kinda thing you won't see at Milan. He got them a title after a long drought and they just throw him out like that? Total lack of respect and professionalism. Because his footbal wasn't attractive enough? Please... They are only thinking about money and have no values. The won't ever be like Milan (no matter how CL they won).

It says that Maresca is set to leave Sevilla to to go back to Italy. And that Sevilla wants to sign Kevin Prince Boateng (German U21 international) of Hertha BSC Berlin. IMO a very talented player. I dunno if it's already enough for Sevilla but he's defintely more talented than Maresca (not a better player though).

Well, I'm not sure how correct this is, but Villa were interested in him and Villarreal were not exactly keen on selling him. If I remember correctly he had a buy-out clause of just under £15m (E21m = £14m) so it could be the case. Maybe Forlan was they guy they saw who could replace Torres' goal haul per season. So maybe he left Villarreal, who were unwilling to sell, with Athletico activating this clause?

They probably wanted somebody proven in Spain, there aren't many others, especially with Kanoute commiting to Sevilla. king.gif

Inter And Madrid Set For Diarra-Adriano Talks

The Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Inter Milan and Real Madrid are ready to begin discussions over a swap deal involving Adriano and Mahamadou Diarra.

Following’s Suazo signing, Inter are now focusing on finalising Cristian Chivu’s transfer, so that they can move on and focus on strengthening the midfield department.

The idea is that if Inter would not manage to net a playmaker who could substitute Figo, then president Moratti would follow coach Roberto Mancini’s advice to chase Real Madrid’s Mahamadou Diarria.

It is understood that Real Madrid could be willing to sell him, only on the condition that Inter would offer Adriano in return.

In fact, the Merengues are in search for a striker would could make up for Van Nistelrooy, who is currently out injured.

The Dutchman will miss the pre-season, and return only just in time for the start of the La Liga season, and the doctors have advised against playing him twice a week at least until October, if not November.

Inter and Real Madrid officials are set to meet soon in order to discuss the transfer.

Bronzetti Reveals Roma-Madrid Agreement Over Chivu

Fifa agent Ernesto Bronzetti, who was a part of the negotiations between AS Roma and Real Madrid, has claimed that the two parties have reached an agreement.

An 18 million euro deal had reportedly been agreed this morning before Pedja Mijatovic decided to cloud the issue by claiming that the Merengue club yet had made no official offer.

"The two clubs will have to hold more talks," Mijatovic had said. "There is still nothing more now though.

"We may need another meeting, I do not know.

"Chivu is a great player and there a quite a few teams that are interested. We will have to see what happens.

"There has been no offer, though."

However, Bronzetti has just confirmed that a deal has indeed been struck, and the transfer will go ahead if Chivu gives the nod.

"Real Madrid and Roma have agreed that Chivu will be sold for 18 million euros," he said. "Now it is for Chivu to decide."

What they gain defensively with Chivu, they'll lose offensively with Grosso.

That is if Grosso goes... but it's not just that. Chivu is a world-class defender, much better than anyone else Inter have (better than your lovely dumb_ss!) and Roma will be left with Mexes and Juan... they're both good (the Brazilian is much better IMO) but I think the combination of the two won't be a big success...
