They've some players out like Toure, Etoo, Bojan, Puyol, Deco, Zambrotta, etc. But I don't get Rijkaard when he puts Messi in the middle and Henry on the wing.
Zed.D
@ Porty

That's right, but they're still Barca; they still have a [supposedly] strong XI despite those players out. this should not be an excuse for them, they have enough depth to win any match imo. but something's wrong with them. maybe Rijkaard...
Tennie
Perhaps Barca are starting to suffer from the Galacticos Syndrome.
Zed.D
Wow... Ronaldinho's shot... no better than Gila's against Fiorentina!
kurtsimonw
Narrowly wide from Xavi.. Barca are really coming into this game.
Zed.D
Sevilla must secure the win with another goal. one goal lead is not enough at all.
Zed.D
Almost an own goal by Marquez.
Tennie
Bah. Goal Xavi.
Zed.D
Damn! 1:1...
Portman
Lucky... lucky Barcelona. Unbelievable.
Zed.D
Keita red card! great! mad.gif

Now Barca aiming for a victory...
kurtsimonw
Xavi won them 3 points last week, another point this week. rolleyes.gif

LOL. This ref is just a joke.

He's doing everything he can for Barcelona.

And then dst says referees favor Real rolleyes.gif
Tennie
I think that both Barca and Real get their share of favorable calls, just like the top 2-3 teams in other leagues do. It isn't necessarily intentional, but referees seem to give the benefit of the doubt to the big club over the little club.
Zed.D
What the fvck is wrong with this referee!??!?!?!?

At least in Spain both teams are favored. but in Italy...
Zed.D
Capel!! it was close...

FT Sevilla 1-1 Barcelona. I'll take that. smile.gif
Zed.D
FT. 1-1

Well, Barca didn't deserve this point. but Real should be happy with this result.

I might not like Real at all but I want them to win this c'ship. It's theirs to lose anyway... But their are much better a team than Barcelona.

I did not see the game, it seems like it was... "entertaining"!

dst did not say refs favor Real this season. In Spain, who gets the referees' help seems to be a result of an auction at the beginning of every season. Whoever has watched LaLiga in the past 15 years can clearly see that. Every single trophy Real or Barcelona have won in this period (cannot tell about the older ones) has been a gift! The only one that was won fairly was last season's one. The rest of them have all been a disgrace (not that last season's wasn't but at least the team that should have won did actually win) and some were dirtier than Juve's!

QUOTE (zdrossoneri @ Feb 10 2008, 12:49 AM)

*

In Italy they have the balls and kicked Juventus in Serie B... Juventus is an ethnic symbol there! The day those losers in Spain do the same with the scums from Madrid and Catalunya is the day they can talk about how clean Serie A is! For the moment they can...

11' Real 1-0 Valladolid, Baptista assisted by Robben

(As Ruud is out, Raul is playing as striker, Robben on the right and Robinho on the left... with Baptista behind Raul)
Tennie
ohmy.gif Wow, that really is Robben in there. I'd almost forgotten he was at Real.

Robinho down with an injury of some sort.

Drenthe in for Robinho.

Robben? When fit, he's the best left-footed winger in Europe IMHO. Always said that. He and Cristiano are the best wingers in the game.

The likes of Robinho and Messi... I don't consider them as pure-wingers.

A shame TBH. He was the most pacey player in Chelsea and who solved a lot of matches there.

Schuster said Robben injuries were a mental problem. More or less what the Valencia staff told about Vicente. It's something psychological.

But Robben is young and he's probably in the best league for him. I do hope those 'injuries' are over.

Anyway, Raul great play. 2-0. Top-class assist by Guti.

Game set and match.

Penalty on Baptista.
Raul 4-0.

Drenthe, Guti, Baptista and Robben are destroying Valladolid in counters.

*EDIT*

It's 5. Guti.
Tennie

Wow. 5-0 at the half.

I don't particularly like Real Madrid as a team, but their performance in the first half has been phenomenal.
Portman
70'. It's 6. Guti again, another assist by Robben.
Zed.D
OMG! I just saw the result on GOAL.COM and I'm... shocked!!! 6-0??!! Hala Madrid!!

Drenthe, 7-0.

What's with the lame music being played after they score!?

Anyway. The depth in R.Madrid's squad is impressive. They hit 7 tonight without Metzelder, Miguel Torres, van Nistelrooy, Pepe, Saviola, Heinze, Sneijder and Robinho (injuried in the first minutes).
Tennie
Sneijder has apparently (I think I'm translating it correctly) broken a rib in training; he's expected to be out around a month. Van Nistlerooy is expected to play this weekend, though.

And I'd appreciate someone who actually speaks Spanish to take a look at the various articles in the Spanish press -- there's some sort of odd scandal about Guti and a photograph but I don't understand the article too well.

Oliveira: I Begged For Food At Fifteen

Oliveira was raised in São Paulo and was subjected to a hard life in his early years, although he was quick to indicate that he never turned to crime, despite the stereotypes associated with Brazil's lower classes.

"I lost to my father when I was 8 years old and at 15 I had to go out to request money. I come from a poor family. I had to ask people for food because I was hungry. I also took discarded items from the street to try and sell them.

"Others looked to alternatives: violence, robbery, drugs. I did not. I did not have food, but I was always trying to get it. Although I did not have work, I was going to request food and money at the traffic lights.

"But I never went to rob, to take something that was not mine. It was a very humble childhood with difficulties, but it was surpassed by a dream: to be football player."

The twenty-seven year old striker believes that coming from such humble beginnings means that he appreciates the financial stability that comes from being a footballer.

"The success comes easier because you know to value what you have. There is people who think that you are not of this world because you are a football player and have a name, an image, but we are all equal."

Oliveira reflected on his childhood friends, most of whom he is no longer in contact with.

"I almost have no friends from my childhood. They have either died or are in jail."

Finally, he looked toward his future, which he sees being in Brazil.

"I like to help people. In the last few months I was consecrated as a pastor in Brazil. When I leave football, I want to dedicate my life to preaching the word of God," he concluded.

It's this photo.

Some people say it's fake/photoshop, some others say it's true.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's really true as Guti is like the "Madrid's Beckham"... parties and events every day, etc. Plus... I don't know what's the problem to give a guy a kiss. Cultures.
Tennie
Hrm. Interesting. Thanks for explaining, Porty.
