Sevilla 0 - 3 Almeria. Third goal in the 62nd and it was lovely. Sevilla have fallen apart in this one.
EDIT: And Sevilla are down to 10. Adriano red for dissent.
EDIT: And make that 0 - 4. Gosh.

Interesting situation in La Liga.
Bilbao are leading Valencia 3-1 in the 76th. Assuming Valencia don't come up with 3 goals in the last few minutes, this will leave them 2 (TWO) points above the drop zone.
Anyone aware of a situation where a league cup winner goes on to be relegated? Will they still play in the UEFA Cup?
La Liga standings:
72 pts Real
62 pts Villareal
61 pts Barcelona
54 pts Atletico Madrid
53 pts Racing Santander
51 pts Sevilla
48 pts Almeria
46 pts Bilbao
---
39 pts Valencia
37 pts Zaragoza
37 pts Huelva
29 pts Murcia
25 pts Levante

Bilbao are tearing into Valencia at will. If Los Che get relegated, i think they will still stay in the UEFA cup as teams from lower divisions have played there (Millwall from England and Potentially Cardiff)

It's a shame such a good team is having a very bad season, Koeman did nothing this year! We really should look at players like Villa and Silva if they get relegated (actually even if they don't)!

Apr 20 2008, 11:04 PM
How can they be playing so bad?? It's just not possible... even if they did it on purpose pride would at some point conquer them and they'd fight back... just what the **** is going on?
Anyway... Bilbao's now saved!!

In news that should surprise nobody, Valencia have sacked Ronald Koeman - in addition to a whole bunch of backroom staff. Los Che will be coached by former player and current boardmember Salvatore 'Voro' Gonzalez until the end of the year.
link (This is the Marca article and I'm not positive of the translation but pretty much the same information is popping up in the Italian sources so I think I'm right).
Wonder if it's too late to save Valencia from relegation, however...

same reason why chelsea is a top team right now. Coach/manager makes the difference. Its about time we get rid of this trend that previous players make good managers/coaches cause its obvious its not true. Look at mourinho, benitez and possibly me in the future. Never played pro but devestate with godlike results. I belive some people are born to play and others to coach. Some can do both because of their behavior and the club they are at. LIke carlo for example.

Besides that I don't think Carlo is inferior to any of the coaches mentioned above. Look at the trophies he won and what a great team he built up in Milan.

Interesting news re: Valencia.
The new interim coach's first act was to recall the three 'banished' players (Canizares, Albelda, and Angulo) to the regular team. He's quoted as saying that if he thinks they're ready to play, they'll play.
Be interesting to see what sort of effect this recall has on the rest of the team.

San Siro is very beautiful Zd ... Maybe on tv, I dunno, but I saw it live when it was half empty (or half full

) ... One of the best stadiums I have ever seen.
It's old real old, it has character, the spiral stairs on each corner ... I dunno I just love it
It's a matter of taste I guess, but this is a fact, wherever you sit in the San Siro you get a real good view of the pitch

Anyone care to bet that Frank Rijkaard will still be coaching Barcelona next year (or, for that matter, when the plane from Manchester lands in Barcelona)?
