My Portuguese is imperfect but A Bola (Portuguese football daily/website) is reporting that Benfica may be willing to hear offers for Luisao. I've said more than once that I think there're too many Brazilians at Milan as it is, but for Luisao, I'd make an exception. He's a good CB and is very good in the air.

Tennie I disagree with you about him (though it rarely happens smile.gif )

I dont think he's that good. He makes some silly mistakes blink.gif .

btw, yes the only good thing about him is his aerial ability.

I'm not sure that's good news for Luka. I'm not clear what the Spurs are planning and if they really are serious...or just like Manchester C. pumped up..

As for Srna...Lazio are smart. They would get 2 or 3 players in one. He's the perfect solution.

Same for 90% of the Benfica team.

Flamini is that kind of player who doesn't give a f**k about people or clubs that have helped him develop into a player.

He left Marseille to sign for Arsenal in this exact way as he's leaving Arsenal now. He was just about to sign a proffesional contract with Marseille when Arsenal snapped him on free.

Marseille manager José Anigo at that time stated, "This is a beautiful treason. He used me."

So, I guess he's not that loyal to his team!! Dont know if that counts much!

Milan Targeting More Brazilians, Benzema

It seems like AC Milan will continue favouring Brazilians as they look to add some youth to their aging squad next summer.

This summer it seems that Milan will finally be ready to make some major changes to their squad in order to decrease the team's average age, which is currently over 30. As is well known, the club have a definite preference for Brazilians when it comes to foreign players.

Among the players being followed currently are defenders Alex (23) of San Paolo and Sidney Rachel (19) of Internacional Porto Alegre, as well as midfielders Hernanes (23), also of San Paolo, and Fernandinho (23). The latter player has been one of the revelations of the season at Shakhtar Donetsk.

For the strikeforce, the Rossoneri are looking at another Brazilian, 21-year-old Carlo Eduardo of Gremio. Of course, it will be tough to find new players of the calibre of Kaká and Pato.

Another nationality of players Milan are known to be keen on is the French one. An option for their ailing goalkeeping department is Hugo Lloris of Nice, and they are also one of many clubs interested in striker Karim Benzema of Lyon.

The competition for the 21-year-old is intense, however, and considering that much of their attention will also be focused on the complicated Ronaldinho operation, it seems unlikely Benzema will end up with the Rossoneri.

if flamini plays good he can stay. If he doesn't we will ship him out. This isn't arsenal where he gets payed a 1 mil a year. If he doesnt play good he leaves its like that with all big clubs. It isn't sergio or cafu or maldini that we can say oh well hes been here for years and has been a very dedicated person.

Forget Benzema, he already said that he'll stay another year at Lyon, he's too expensive, a striker (if we need one of those it should an established one, we already have Pato and Paloschi) and, the worst of all, Lyon player, that means we'll have to deal with Aulas who cares about € more than anything else!

Arsenal's Flamini set for Milan as Hleb mulls Inter move

Mathieu Flamini (top) is being lined up by AC Milan as a long term replacement for Gennaro Gattuso (bottom). The two players faced each other in the Champions League earlier this season

By Jason Burt
Monday, 28 April 2008

Mathieu Flamini has dashed Arsenal's faint hopes of keeping him by agreeing to join Milan, while the Premier League club face a crunch meeting over Alexander Hleb's future later this week.

The signs are that Arsene Wenger will be shorn of half his first-choice midfield - and two of his best performers this season - with Hleb having been offered a huge four-year contract by Internazionale, Milan's city's rivals, which he is keen to sign.

The loss of the pair would be a severe blow to Wenger who has set Flamini a deadline of the end of this month to decide his future after making what he described as a "decent" improved offer. The 24-year-old French midfielder's present contract runs out on 30 June and, despite Arsenal's efforts, he has been offered far more by Milan and Juventus.

It had appeared that Juve were the favourites to sign Flamini but they have been out-bid by Milan who are willing to pay him four million euros a year - a million more than was an offer from their rivals - which includes a significant signing-on fee spread over a five-year contract. They have ear-marked Flamini as the eventual replacement for Gennaro Gattuso - which is ironic considering the midfielder was nicknamed after the Italian by his Arsenal team-mates.

Over the weekend Carlo Ancelotti went public on Milan TV - the club's own television channel - to speak of his admiration for Flamini, especially after the way he performed against the European Cup holders in the Champions League tie earlier this season. Flamini - whose father Roland is Italian and has relatives in Rome - is free to talk to other clubs because his contract has almost expired. He has made clear that he wants to accept a more lucrative offer than has been tabled by Arsenal, especially as Flamini has felt under-valued at the Emirates for some time. Wenger has urged Flamini not to leave Arsenal just for a "few bucks" but that kind of comment will not be well-received by his player.

Hleb, who is 27 next month, has been offered an impressive four-year deal by Inter, but will hold talks with Arsenal this week. He is understood to be concerned that, after so much promise this season, it is now the third campaign in a row that Arsenal have failed to win a trophy. Much to Wenger's annoyance, the Italian champions have openly declared their interest in the Belarussian who joined Arsenal from Stuttgart in July 2005. He has two years left on his present deal but article 17 of FIFA regulations would allow him to leave for a fixed fee, likely to be significantly less than the £11.2m Arsenal paid for him.

The situation presents Wenger with a major headache. His team face bottom club Derby County away tonight with Flamini a doubt because he has not fully recovered from an ankle injury. Wenger may have a league debut to goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski who, he said, will vie with Manuel Almunia for the club's number one slot next season.

Ancelotti to SKY: "I was happy when the club told me that they were on course to sign Ronaldinho .. Gattuso is a first team player"

The talk of Milan's movements in the summer Mercato as early as April, moving strongly and on a wave of optimism from all quarters of the Milan hierarchy to the head coach.

SKY TV channel had interviewed Milan's head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who elaborated on the much awaited Milan summer transfer campaign, about the names involved and the ones Milan are very close to signing.

The talk started first on Ronaldinho and Carlo Ancelotti showed his delight at the prospect of having him within his ranks, he assured that Ronnie would be perfect for several formations in the coming season, he said: "I was happy when the club informed me that they were entering into negotiations and wanted to bring him in. What position would he play? He is considered a support to the forwards also he could be launched as a forward himself, and he will play based on what players are available. I think that with the christmas tree, he will do very well, or even if we had two winger and a support to the forwards."

And about Flamini, he declared how important and crucial it is to sign him. And that signing him will not affect, at all, Gattuso's place in the first team. He said: "Him, Gattuso and Ambrosini would be a very strong force. Flamini is a very energetic midfielder and his movements are dictated by the tempo of the team, he is able to play in three roles as he is also able to play in front of the defense. And about Ringo,  his presence is fundamental for our team, he represents the soul of this very team."

And about Shevchenko's arrival, he started his welcome by saying: "If he comes back, we all would be happy, and if he doesn't arrive that would mean that we didn't reach an agreement with his club. He was and remains to be a great champion."

Carlo Ancelotti closed by confirming that all the transfers will, as they have always, been conducted with his approval, as he said: "Here, no player comes without my approval, and the club have never forced me to play a certain player ever since I came to the club, as the coach needs to be in complete accordance with the club."

Zapata's agent to Tuttomercato: "Milan's interest is in itself a certificate of achievement for the player"

The Colombian Cristian Zapata has been in the middle of the transfer tornado in Europe, as there is some interest from Europe and Italy for the player.

And Tuttomercato website had an exclusive interview with the player's agent Daniel Fidal, who concurs the Italian team's interest in his player, but he focused most on Milan's interest.

Question. "Braida came from Milan to confirm the interest in the player?"

Fidal: "This for sure fills us with a lot of pleasure. For Milan's mere interest in a player is a certificate of achievement for any player. And for us, it is very important."

Question. "What is the ideal position for Zapata to play in, in the Milan defense?"

Fidal: "Okay, Milan play with four at the back, just like Udine where Zapata plays on the right side. In my opinion, I see him challenging Kaladze for a starting spot along side Nesta, but for sure he wont play as a right back. His characteristics is close to that of Maldini, though he doesn't have the attacking instinct Maldini has, still Cristian has the physical ability to help the team upfront when needed. There is also a statistic that confirms his qualification for attacking play as 80% from his attacking attempts."

Milan Renew Adriano Interest
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Milan are reconsidering making a summer move for troubled Inter striker Adriano.

‘The Emperor’ was sent out to Brazil late last year for clinical rehabilitation following a traumatic 18 months of personal problems, ranging from depression to alcoholism.

While in his homeland he joined Sao Paulo on-loan, and he has largely impressed so far.

Adriano is due to return to Inter at the end of the season, however there are doubts whether the Serie A leaders want to keep him.
City-rivals Milan have been linked with the 26-year-old in the past, and according to the Corriere, they are now reconsidering making a move for the player.

Adriano’s agent Gilmar Rinaldi is in Italy this week to discuss his client’s future with Inter, and it is believed that Coach Roberto Mancini wants to offload the striker along with other so-called troublemakers such as Luis Figo and Hernan Crespo.

Adriano last week accused Mancini of not supporting him enough during his difficult times, while the pair have clashed on a number of occasions in the past.

It is reported that Inter have put a price tag of €25m on Adriano’s head, but whether or not they will be prepared to sell to their bitter local rivals remains to be seen.

I have heard two rumours:

Firstly we will swap Gourcuff for Jeremy(?) Menez, I have no idea how good Menez is. Would this be beneficial for us or not?

Secondly involves a cycle of epic proportions; Gila to Fio in exchange of Frey, Borriello recalled and Pazzini sent to Genoa.

The second rumour sounds quite credible (well the first two parts anyway), though im not sure if Pazzini would want to leave champions league football to play for Midtable Genoa
