Getafe have been linked with Costacurta. He is supposedly interested in a move but his wife isnt. I hope he does go there and get some experience. Some major tacticians have used Getafe as a springboard in the past including Laudrup, Quiqe Flores and even Schuster

Hmm..yes Laudrup has resigned right...it's very wierd though. I think Laudrup has great potential as a coach. And he plays my favourite 4-2-3-1 as well.
I think he'd be a good choice for Chelsea. Maybe even Milan post 2010...

Galliani: We rule the market
Thursday 5 June, 2008
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani believes the Diavolo have dominated the transfer market in Italy this summer as he looks for a big-name striker.
The Diavolo need to make sweeping changes after finishing outside the Champions League qualification zone.
They have already been active in the market and now Galliani is tracking one final acquisition in the form of a top-class hitman.
“It seems to me that Milan can be considered the side that have done best in the market up to now,†he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I don’t think any other Italian club has done what we have.
“We have brought back a striker in Marco Borriello who scored 19 goals last season and I don’t think that is less important than a signing.
“Then we have brought home goalkeeper Christian Abbiati and purchased wing-back Gianluca Zambrotta and a great midfielder in Mathieu Flamini.
“Now we will see if we can achieve our objective of signing another great striker.â€
Arsenal front man Emmanuel Adebayor is the new name to be suggested and there were rumours today that the player had accepted the move, leaving the two clubs to come to an agreement.
“There is a rule that states that you can’t make a private agreement with a player who is under contract with another club,†Galliani scoffed.
“I don’t know whether a new striker will arrive from England – we will see.â€
we will sign 6-7 players seems it is going to be 5 out of which 2 are our own terrible

How many friggin' defensive midfielders do we need?
Emerson
Brocchi
Gattuso
Flamini
Ambrosini
Veloso

And no alternatives for any of our starting attacking mids -> Seedorf and Kaka...

Veloso isn't the usual DM player, he's more like a Pirlo to me and could be a great alternative to the Brescia native, plus I think he can play as a LB

I wouldn't call Galliani a clown - he's been doing well at Milan for longer than some of you have been alive. Let's give him (and Milan) until the end of the transfer window - he may just suprise you.
And for what it's worth, so far I think we've done a decent job in the market.

Pirlo type...

Yeah... He has scored one goal for Sporting in over 50 games... We have flamini now...
I would have loved this transfer if it meant Veloso was going to replace Brocchi and then we also bought either two good alternatives for Seedorf and Kaka or just one really good one like Van Der Vaart.
But how much Veloso is going to cost us? At least 20 mil Euros... This money can be spent in other departments...

I think we all know that Galliani likes to over exagerate. Imo we're having a decent mercato when compared to the standards of other big european teams. But compared to the last 3 years I think we're having a good one.
Imo the only thing that still irritates me is Boriello and Abbiati. But I'm willing to overlook them if we buy 2 more class players. A WC second striker which Galliani keeps talking about so I'm sure someone will come (I'm praying to god that it's not Edabayour through

) and some type of creative mid, whether it's a sub for Pirlo or Kaka and Seedorf I don't car but we really need another creative mind in that midfield, we have 5 defensive mids, getting rid of Brocchi and maybe Emerson will provide us with funds that could chip in to getting the mid.

No one would expect Pirlo to score goals, unless it's a FK and Veloso is quite good in that departement, plus he's very good technically and creative.
We don't know anything about the transfer, but I don't think we gave them Grimi just because they wanted him badly, just wait and see ... but I agree with you there are more important things right now!
I personally don't rate VdV that high and don't want him at Milan. He's slow and keeps the ball too much, plus I think he's the kind of person that needs to feel like a star and Milan isn't the right environment for that kind of player.

That's something to think about. Maybe the reason we aren't giving Maldini the deal he wants is because we can't afford it? It's not like we spend big very often nowadays, and we hardly make huge changes ever, just one play every now and then. Something isn't right in terms of our finances, that's for sure.

I don't believe this is true at all. Not one word of it. Milan deny Paolo money??
I think it's just some crappy journalist, who's wondering why in the hell is this announcement taking so long, and coming up his own version of events.
Milan would not do this. The money situation might be bad(assuming from the club's treasury point of view), but not so bad, that 1.5 million makes a difference.
I think Maldini and the club are probably doing some discussions, where he's weighing up his options. Suppose I retire then what?? Suppose I don't retire then what? We need the following players to come in... etc.
Bluesummers
Jun 6 2008, 06:41 AM
Your right jack but what i'm wondering is why we act so poor. We are not a poor club. I mean we didnt buy anyone big the last 3 years. Yet we have 24 million debt. Like what is going on.
Silvio is worth 11 billion.
Milan is worth something around 800 million.
We should at the very very least be able to have a transfer fee of 60 million every year for a club of our stature.
Jack Sparrow
Jun 6 2008, 07:42 AM
You forget operating costs and player wages..
We're easily spending 40-50 million on wages alone...now think about how much that's coming down to? Kaka alone earns 12 million a year!!
Then there's operating costs. Just the team bus alone and filling her up, with today's gas prices!!

The primavera etc. all take money!! Oh and the killer taxes, when your revenue is in the millions your taxes are also gonna be in millions.

Oh most importantly, our TV revenue is half of the English clubs. Our stadium is not our own, so we don't get full proceeds etc. Hence Galliani for the longest time pestering to buy the San Siro. Who knows, it might reach the stage, when we really have to look at getting our own stadium, since it isn't economically feasible anymore. And that has to be in the back of people's minds.

Jack Sparrow
Jun 6 2008, 10:44 AM
Barca supposedly. Guardiola wants to build this team around him and Xavi in a double pivot.
Eto'o to be included in the bargain if need be (esp after his little punch up).
Barca are convinced that Pirlo is unsettled since his wages are lesser compared to the wages some of the proposed new signings will be earning. Including Flamini.
Wierd, that Pirlo would want money. He's rich on his own terms, without the football. Must be the respect. Like I said on some other thread, Wes Brown earns as much as Andy P.

Milan's summer transfer campaign has not ended yet, in fact it hasn't even started !
Galliani:
- "You (journalists) should all know that there are negotiations for a striker on the way. The world class striker which we are missing to complete the big picture is one of: Drogba, Eto'o, Adebayor, Gomes, and Berbatov. Any other names beside these, are fantasy, as there are no thousands of strikers that Milan are following."
- "I hope Paolo accepts the deal which the club had offered him. I am a huge fan of Paolo and would like to see him play on. There is an offer and I hope he accepts it. I don't know how long it will take him to reach a conclusion, but at the end of the road, he will have reached a decision."
- He also talked about Kaka', whom was operated on by the Brazilian NT doctor and after his decision, he went under the knife. Milan didn't prevent him from joining his NT, rather they didn't allow him to go to the Olympics, the rest was his choice.

- Braida is in Portugal, Sporting to be specific, to negotiate for a deal with Moutinho. The deal (as reported by radio mercato) is supposed to cost 15M with Grimi and Storari on the table of negotiations as well. If there's a player in Portugal that I love his character, very profissional, [not a cnut like Cristiano, Quaresma, even like Veloso and his top-model look-like and care, etc] and top-player it's Joao Moutinho.
It's the captain of Sporting Lisbon [he was the youngest player with the armband] and a top-quality midfielder that can play in EVERY single place in the mid. Ofensive, defensive, the Seedorf, Ambro or the Pirlo place... he can do it.
I'd love if we get him but ONLY if we clean our midfielder: meaning Brocchi and Emerson out. Specially Brocchi.
With only 21 yo, Joao Moutinho already played 146 official matches with Sporting Lisbon. (!!!)
His idol is Rui Costa (Moutinho was/is a Benfica fan). He has some similarities like good passing and vision. Good tactically too.
Besides Milan [now and probably b/s] he's being linked with Man Utd, Arsenal and Barcelona.
