He is an excellent dmf in my view but what the **** do we need one more of this kind?? Are we trying to break a record for less goals conceded in a single season? We are not good at it I may say...

buying deco in the summer will be a good move if he leaves barca.

I TOTALLY agree with "dst".

We need creative players.

A team without a good and deep midfield has no chance of surviving long tournaments.

Knowing this let's take a look a our team's midfield. The official site lists 8 midfielders (Kaka is listed as a forward). Are Emerson, Gattuso, Brocchi, Ba and Ambrosini creative players? That leaves us only with Pirlo, Seedorf and an inexperienced Gourcouff.

Not only that 5 out of our 8 midfielders are not creative but cannot even take a good long range shot at the goal. This leaves us with no options at all since we can only rely on Seedorf in an attacking role and Pirlo passing the ball from behind. Gourcouff still needs more playing time. Our hopes for a goal are really on the shoulders of only 2 of our 8 midfielders. If a goal comes from any of the other 6 players is a bit of a surprise with the exception of some of Ambrosini's goals that we all now arrive because he is a warrior who always tries.

We need to get a couple of midfielders that can control the ball, play on the flanks, shoot, give good crosses and passes. We need a player with characteristics similar to Savicevic. Neves is a really good young option.

Gourcouff has interesting characteristics but need more playing time to boost his confidence. He is really good, one can tell but he needs playing time. Either we put him to play or we can give him on loan but he's worth the try.

Pirlo and Seedorf aren't getting any younger.

On the forwards department I still don't know why Kaka is listed as a forward but if he is then we should better start looking for midfielders instead of forwards.

Unlike Gourcouff, Gilardino has had enough time to get things going but he hasn't. He has had the opportunities ... not only to play but actual goal opportunities and NOTHING! He is never going to get better ... at least not in AC Milan .... his future is somewhere else.

Paloschi is good ... a warrior too I like him on the pitch ... he has a strong will and desire.

We need a forward with presence in the area ... with good heading skills ... we haven't scored a lot of headers lately from the corner kicks we win. We need somebody like Huntelaar.

We can have Pato (skill) and Huntelaar (presence and effectiveness) in the front with Kaka and Seedorf/Neves (both good passers and long range shooters) supporting. Pirlo can perfectly stay where he plays. As his partner we should start using Gourcouff here ... take advantage of his size, speed and ball control as a good pivot for counter-attacks. He should be taught the art of playing like a Rikaard or a Viera.
I'm sorry for Gattuso (I love this guy), defensively he's fantastic but he's like a -1 player in our attack.

Gattuso, Emerson and Ambrosini should stay in the team as a security to lock up games but Ba and Brocchi should leave to open the space for 2 more attacking and creative midfielders like Neves and somebody else.

Up to this point we only have 2 new acquisitions in our squad: Huntelaar and Neves.

On the defensive side we MUST get a couple of YOUNG wingbacks ... fresh legs to run up and down.

We do not need to change our entire squad but add a few players and reshuffle a position in the midfield to change our orientation and style. With this changes and constant crosses from wingbacks .... AC Milan is unstoppable.

Tone it down a bit Porty - we all know what you think of Flamini wink.gif

Btw, nice post Panama Devil. You've made some good points and I think you've described what most Milan fan's have been feeling lately.

I think the summer is going to break down like this:

GK: If Kalac's form stays consistant over the next 11 games, I think he'll be our starter for next season. I'm not sure where this leaves Dida.

DF: If Maldini retires, I think we'll see a Nesta-Kaladze partnership next season. I can't see Milan spending big on a CB at the moment. If Cafu and Sergio leave, I think Milan will seal the Zambrotta deal which will give us something like Zambrotta - Kaladze - Nesta - Oddo. Bonera and Janku will provide decent options, although I'd like to see Darmian promoted to the senior squad.

MF: I can't see Carlo wanting to change his Rino - Pirlo - Ambro starting trio for next season. I'm still undecided - on their day they're all excellent, but I always felt that we looked a lot more balanced/dangerous when Seedorf was on the left, and Kaka was sitting just behind two strikers. I know nothing about Neves, but from what people have been saying he sounds like an ideal option for Ambro when visiting teams stick 11 behind the ball. I think that if Gourcuff gets little playing time over the next 11 games, he could well be loaned out/sold in the summer.

AT: This was always going to be about Gila. You have to earn the right to wear the Milan shirt through your performances on the pitch, and I don't think Gila has done that since he joined. That's not through lack of effort - he clearly wants to do well and runs himself into the ground during most games, but very very rarely does he change or decide a game, something that a first choice striker should do in my opinion. If we get a decent offer, I think we could get more for our money elsewhere. Drogba would be an ideal partner for Pato.

Stuttgart Resigned To Gomez Exit
Stuttgart sporting director Horst Heldt believes that in-demand striker Mario Gomez will certainly leave Die Roten before his contract expires...

The German international was Player of the Year during Stuttgart's rise to the Bundesliga title last season, and has continued to win an array of admirers in the current campaign.

So highly is he regarded that even the club's directorship admits that he's likely to move on before his deal comes to an end in 2012.

Sky Sports quotes Heldt as saying, "It's unrealistic to think that Mario will stay to the end of his contract in 2012.

"We're not so naive as to think he's going to play his whole career in Stuttgart, although obviously we want to keep him for as long as possible."

The 22-year-old signed his latest deal in the summer of 2007, but could move on to one of the likes of AC Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina, or Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Well....I never heard anyone labelling Stuttgart as "Die Roten" but the fact that Gomez and Milan are mentioned in one article makes me dream about signing the "TORero" who's IMO the best striker in the Bundesliga. Anyone who wants to know more about the "alien with the No. 33" should watch his performance against Bremen. His second goal....amazing

I saw that game and it was...really quite amazing. Gomez was fantastic. He might be an interesting (and probably far less expensive than a Benzema) choice for Milan.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar reminds some much of Van Basten .... BIG TIME!

Check this out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIIGScglFCE&NR=1

I'm already having dreams about seeing him paired with Pato in our attack.

I prefer him over Drogba any day plus he's only 24 and Drogba is 29.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huntelaar

Amazing scoring rate!

HONESTLY I THINK MILAN SHOULD SPEND BIG MONEY ON THIS GUY ... BETTER THAN SPENDING IT ON RONALDHINO.

If Milan gets Huntelaar and Neves it will still be way lower than what our President wants or wanted to pay for Ronaldhino.

PLEASE GET THIS GUY ... !!!! THIS IS SERIOUS ... BEFORE SOMEBODY ELSE MAKES THE MOVE.

BRING BORRIELLO BACK, sell or trade Gilardino for a decent substitute, give Aubameyang on loan and sell, trade or bring back Ricardo Oliveira as a sub.

Or trade Gilardino and Oliveira together for a GOOOOD sub.
Panama Devil
People just imagine we have Pato (18), Pippo (34), Huntelaar (24), Borriello (25), Paloschi (18) and Ricardo Oliveira (27).

I think we can easily forget about the trouble in our forwards department.

And in order to get this we only need to get one player and bring back two from loans. That is ........... only 1 transfer!!!

Age average 22.4 YEARS!!!!! (excluding pippo) and including pippo the average is only 24.3 ..... UNBELIEVABLE!!!

With this age average I won't even get angry if Milan signs Ronaldo, Romario or Careca.

After not even trying to sign Berbatov, we need to demand the club to consider Gomez or Huntelaar. I mean is it possible that they don't know of these players? huh.gif We should be heavily linked with them and sign one of them. Berbatov and Torres we missed, now it's time to snap up one of these stars.
august_milan
The thing i really like about Huntelaar is that he takes shots...as much as i wanna see Gilardino do good he doesnt shoot enough, he always just wants to tap it in. Huntelaar takes shots, he shoots on the first touch, he has an incredible first touch he will beat a defender with his first touch and turn and shoot...another thing Gilardino doesnt do anymore like he did at Parma. This kid can score from anywhere in the box! id love to see what he can do at milan. Reports are sayin that his transfer would cost 15 million euros....which is something around what it costed for pato, and spending that kinda money on a player that young is a much bigger risk imo.
Bluesummers
huntelaar wont happen. drogba is more likely. we paid 22 million euros for pato wink.gif

He ain't no van Basten that's for sure. Marco was the most complete forward there has ever been, he is too good even for today's standards. Ronaldo is the best attacker I have watched play but the Dutch had such a range of qualities that I have not seen in another forward.

BERLUSCONI ON THE MARKET
3/10/2008

MILAN - Here are the words of president Berlusconi on the market: "Ronaldinho has never been an objective for us because we didn't he think he would be compatible with Kaká and Pato. I think Milan will have to reinforce the defensive department and find a powerful striker. Shevchenko is a physically strong player who is still in our heart and that of every Milan fan."

Well, it seems I was wrong about Podolskis talent but I think Gomez is different. Unlike Poldi he already plays in a big german team. He's brillant for 2 years now and he's a complete forward (unlike Poldi, who simply s@cks in the air). He links up very good with the midfielders and his physical presence is huge. And unlikke Gila he knows how to score in the CL. In 3 matches with STuttgart he scored 3 goals (one in his CL debut)
As Fillipo said he's most of the times a very modest person, gives credit to other players, doesn't bash them etc. Except for his outburst two weeks ago after Stuttgart game against Karlsruhe when he was in a huge battle with Karlsruhe defender Maik Franz ( a very physical player). After the match he said that Franz would be an "unfair @sshole". But it was just in the heat of the moment and he quickly apologized for that statement.

I'm sure you'll see some matches with Gomez in the Euro. Him and Miro Klose will most likely be starters for Germany. Just can't see Kuranyi (absolutely mediocre) or Podolski (who's doing a Gila at Bayern) beeing favoured by Jogi Löw.

About Huntelaar. Wouldn't compare him to MvB as well. Huntelaar is a classic box striker. Plus, he doesn't have much experience, never played in a big league, never played in the CL etc. But I think he might be a big talent. But a big risk as well.

To cut a long story short, Ronaldo could do this while van Basten could do that. Ronaldo was able to take the ball in the midfield area, outrunning everyone and scoring... MvB was able to score from any position, any time, anyhow... he could make a good assist and was also great in the air. Like I said, he's the most complete forward I've ever seen but Ronaldo was slightly better cause he could turn a game around all on his own.

^^^

I don't really think of Sheva as a traitor... of course I don't have the respect I once had for him anymore [I'm not sure whether this feeling will remain unchanged if he comes back to Milan]. he can solve a lot of our problems in attack since he's definitely better than Pippo and Gila and even Ronaldo [always injured]. if he doesn't have any problem with the #77 shirt, he is welcome by me. smile.gif
Darunia
#77 would look bad.. he should just stay at Chelsea. As for Marseille, Nasri would be fine with me!
Tennie
I think he's a traitor (sorry, Misha!). Don't want to see him coming back to Milan to do anything more than shop on Via Montenapoleone and go for a nice meal somewhere.

Don't think he's that likely to solve much either, given his recent form. He's been injured a lot, has had dreadful form when he has played, etc.

So...I'm still a definite 'STAY IN LONDON' as far as Shevchenko goes, even if signs indicate he may come.

Thing is, when Berlusconi talked about him, he also said quite clearly that while Sheva was like a son to him, etc etc etc, there were other forwards Milan was following. The sense I got of it all is that even if Sheva comes, he won't be the only striker Milan are going after -- they'll pick up someone else in addition. So it's not the total end of the world if he comes back.
Fillipo Simone
IMO Shevchenko and Drogba will land in Milan this summer. And that would mean we've solved every striker problem for the next 4 years.

Luca Antonelli. He plays as a left back and is a Milan Primavera product. The thought is that he may be brought back to provide cover as a left back, in addition to Zambrotta.
