Tottenham boss Juande Ramos has reportedly emerged as the favourite to sign £11million-rated Giovani dos Santos from Barcelona this summer.The 19-year-old is currently on the books of Spanish giants Barca and is widely regarded as one of the hottest properties in European football.

He has been forced to wait his turn at the Nou Camp, but has been tipped for the top since bursting on to the scene at the U17 World Cup back in 2005.

The Catalan club had hoped to see the youngster become the natural heir to Ronaldinho, though he is yet to dominate the senior game in the same manner as he did at youth level.

Neither party could complete the paperwork, as two of the players involved in the deal - Antonio Nocerino and Davide Lanzafame, who both head to Palermo - were not present to sign their contracts.

While a further delay is far from ideal, Grimaldi has confirmed that the deal for the player is done.

Lloris To Milan Within 24 Hours

In yet another turnaround of events, Controcampo claims that Milan will complete the signing of Nice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris within the next 24 hours.

It has been widely reported in the European press over the past few weeks that Milan were closing in on the capture of Nice shot-stopper Lloris.

However this all seemed to have changed on Monday when Lyon President Jean Michel Aulas told French Radio Station RTL that Lloris would sign for his club by the end of Tuesday.

This has not materialised, and in yet another turnaround of events, Controcampo now claims that Milan will indeed officially sign Lloris within the next 24 hours.

The Italian newspaper says that Rossoneri officials will meet with their Nice counterparts today to apply the finishing touches to the deal.

Lloris, who has won three caps for the French Under-21s, and two for Les Bleus B team, will become the Rossoneri’s first choice between the sticks, ahead of Zeljko Kalac.

The youngster came up through the Nice youth academy and made his debut for his hometown club back in 2005 whilst still a teenager.

Now who is he going to be loaned out to? A 21 year old becoming numero uno choice in his first season from match 1. It just doesn't seem historically accurate.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani insists his club remains in the hunt to bring Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko back to the San Siro.

The Milan club have kept tight-lipped about transfers since completing the signing of Mathieu Flamini from Arsenal at the end of the season.

But Galliani insists his club are not talking because as yet they have nothing to report.

"It's not that I'm not talking to the press, it's just we've got nothing to say," he told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

He continued by explaining that the Rossoneri are also attempting to land Barcelona defender Gianluca Zambrotta, but are finding negotiations with the Catalan club hard going.

"The difference is the same today as yesterday: two million euros," he explained.

"The player wants to come to Milan, the Barcelona directors know it too and I hope that the deal will be done.

"But Barca is an expensive place to shop: you go near them and they start asking for 30, 40, 50 million which are figures which just aren't compatible with anyone's budget."

Galliani went on to reveal Milan are still in pursuit of former player Shevchenko, who they see as a replacement for Alberto Gilardino should he move to Fiorentina.

"We're looking for an attacker. If Gilardino goes, we'll be looking for two," he said.

"Today I'll meet with the administrator delegate of Fiorentina about Gilardino."

On Shevchenko he added: "We are in constant talks with Chelsea and also with Shevchenko, but it also depends on them.

"If they let him go on terms we're willing to accept then we'll take him, otherwise we won't."

Barzagli race is over, apparently he has signed for wolfsburg, so two former palermo players will go together to Germany...don't know how good is this for italian football, as Zaccardo and Barzagli are both good defenders...

Milan general manager Adriano Galliani was in jovial mood today when asked about the rumours that Coach Carlo Ancelotti was set to take over at Chelsea.

   

Almost every top coach in world football has been linked with the vacant manager’s job at Stamford Bridge, following the sacking of Avram Grant last week.

One of these has been Milan’s Carlo Ancelotti, and Galliani has responded humorously to the speculation.

"We are in negotiations with Chelsea,” Galliani joked to journalists as he was leaving the Lega Calcio offices today.

“I asked ‘The Blues’ for 50 million Euros. If they are willing to include Drogba in the deal also, then they can have him.”

The newly-turned comedian Galliani did not stop there with his jokes, as he was also asked about Alberto Gilardino, who today completed his transfer to Fiorentina.

Queiroz Hits Out At Madrid, Spain
Manchester United assistant Carlos Queiroz has launched a further attack on Spain and Real Madrid over what he believes are attempts to "naturalise" Cristiano Ronaldo...

Galliani rues expensive tastes

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani confesses that many of the Rossoneri’s targets are too expensive, but continues to search for new recruits.

After the disappointment of finishing fifth, Milan now must rebuild as they look to reassert themselves as one of calcio’s superpowers and secure Champions League qualification next term.

One man the Diavolo have had in their sights for a long time in Azzurri defender Gianluca Zambrotta of Barcelona.

“The difference today, just as yesterday, is £1.5m,” Galliani explained.

“The player wants to play for Milan and the Barcelona directors know that and I hope that a deal can be done.”

Milan have also been linked to Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o, who also plies his trade at the Nou Camp, but it seems Galliani may have been priced out of the market.

“Barcelona is an expensive place to shop,” he lamented.

“As soon as you set your sights on a player they ask for £20m, £30m or £40m – the kind of sums that aren’t compatible with anyone’s budget.”

The main focus of the world champions’ summer transfer campaign is finding a reliable striker and it seems they may need further attacking options with Alberto Gilardino on the cusp of joining Fiorentina.

“With Ronaldo leaving, we are looking for a striker and if Gilardino goes too then we will need two,” Galliani confirmed.

“I will be talking to Fiorentina director Sandro Mencucci today about Gilardino. But Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o are high quality targets and so very expensive.

“Marco Borriello? If he came to Milan I don’t think that he would move again.

“He wants to be a main player? I’m not the Coach – if he arrived he would be one of six strikers, but we will see when his co-ownership runs out on June 25.”

After a dismal season for Nelson Dida, Milan are also on the look out for a new custodian, but they need to make space by selling third-choice Christian Abbiati.

“For the moment Abbiati looks like he doesn’t want to go to Palermo,” Galliani sighed.

“We are watching Hugo Lloris, but if Abbiati stays then our ‘keepers will be Dida, Abbiati and Zeljko Kalac. If he leaves, we will bring in another.”

Galliani closed with an update on his attempts to bring former Milan hero Andriy Shevchenko back to San Siro.

“We are constantly talking to Chelsea and Sheva but it also depends on them,” he said.

“If they compromise on certain conditions then they know that we will sign him, but otherwise we won’t.”

It's just the way our team is structured and the type of game we play. We either need a player who is strong and dominant in the air, and can play with his back to the defenders. A complete target man like Bobo Vieri in his heyday, or we need a skilled technical player as forward who can take on and beat defenders, has a good first touch, can shoot with both feet etc.

Now if you look at the Italian forwards, there aren't any who fall in either category, except...

Toni, Del Piero and Cassano. All the rest are compromises on one or the other.

Unfortunately Spurs want at least £25m for him. Milan won't spend more than £15m in my opinion.
