OK. It's official. Galliani has gone mental. His words today:

"If Adebayor doesn't come, no foward will come. We got a NO from Arsenal but anything can happen. There's no negotiations for Eto'o or Drogba.
"Mutu and Cassano? Absolutely not. For second-striker we've Pato and it's enough."

He said something like: "Huntelaar? I don't think he's better than Borriello." to Corrierre today too.

He should be a stand-up comedian instead of milan vice president.

It's even on goal.com. "Either Adebayor arrives, or we stay as we are" puke.gif

So we either overpay an overrated player or stay as we are. In both cases, we'll have a scoring problem for the third year in a row!

Not second-choice striker. Second Striker.

Second-striker = SS = Player who players behind the striker = Ibrahimovic, Pato, etc, those kind of fowards.

First? You mean prima-punta? Box-striker? I guess that's what Inzaghi, Borriello and Paloschi are here for. The 3 are clearly prima-punta type.

If no one arrives there will be even more pressure on him to deliver, and if he doesn't, which is quite a possibility considering he's the kind of player that chokes under pressure, we're screwed for sure.

Inzaghi will be injured half the season, that leaves Borriello Pato.. and young Paloschi. Of course Kaka will help out, but it's not close to being ideal sleep.gif

I hope Gallani changes his mind (don't want Ade anyways)
han2503
I have one word to say regarding Galliani's comments, DISGRACEFUL

He's clearly gone senile!!

Boriello is better then Huntelaar???

Adebayor or nothing?? What happened to the bravado of saying Ronaldinho is 180% Milan player, or we'll get Eto'o???

And as dst said, why overpay for a less then average box-striker when we're in desperate need of another world clas supporting forward??

As I said yesterday in another thread his words about Serie A being in crises in terms of money was his way of preparing people to the fact that Milan's transfer campaign has come to an end

QUOTE (han2503 @ Jun 18 2008, 02:54 PM)
Then how come Inter don't seem to mind spending so much money on players Galliani?? rolleyes.gif

Even Fiorentina and manageing to out do us in the transfer market. As I expected he's already preparing people to the fact that no star striker will arrive. This is his way of saying that

I'm not entirely sure I believe Galliani on this one -- what he says isn't always exactly true as I think most of you have noticed. While it's the official line (seeing as it's on the club webpage), it doesn't necessarily have to be true. It may be a market strategy, for example.

That said, if it is true...we're in trouble.

Yup .. IF it's true, then we are in trouble. But I doubt it.

Also, there is a crisis in Italy right now, the economy as a whole is in bad shape. Imagine Berlusconi signing those checks (as easy as saying 1, 2, 3... ) for Ronaldinho and Eto'o for a total of 50MM to 70MM ... And especially considering his position as the PM of Italy ..

Still I do think Milan will end up with a BIG name striker and that their job in the market isn't done just yet.
armiss
In fact Galliani words was like moving knife in heart ! smile.gif

For 2 years i was mad about Strikers problem and now , if they wanted to do this with us it was better to keep Gilardino , atleast he had problems and the team used to it !!

i guess they count on Ronaldo and his recovery and Shevchenko , if they come back so Galliani will be on scene to teach us how to pay 0 Euro and still marketing !!!!! my second guess is that they will finally bring Ronaldinho here !!

Hopefully it's not the guy Galliani is talking about...

Adebayor is not the answer, even if Galliani manages to bring him for some stupidly large sum, I would be less then pleased. He's not the type of striker we need and if that were the type of striker we needed I would much rather see us go for Huntelaar or Drogba, atleast we'll get our money's worth.

Hopefully he's just using Adebayor as a cover for some other deal he's trying. I would even be happier if we got Cassano over him
Habitant
the trend of the past 3 years:

-when galliani talks about positive moves in the transfer market it turns out to be completle horse shat.

-when it's something about we're fine as it is, we dont need so-and-so it turns out to be true.

we can all see how terribly run this club is without silvio involvement, it's too bad he doesn't give an F anymore. as it stands, we are a mid table team in serie a.
gal_kenny
Look at who we'll be battling against..Inter..(striker..Ibrahimovic..s'posedly Drogba) Mourinho knows what he wants..Ancelotti isn't saying anything..We'll be left with pato and borriello..How will pato grow well..He needs to be around players that are actually good not players that he's better than..Look at Messi..he wasn't beter than ronaldinho and eto'o..He learnt from them..Pato needs that kind of inspiration..I just hope that these aren't Galliani's final words..I don't think he thinks about how the Milan fans will react..Other clubs know what it takes to have all the other stars..We'll be left with basically sort of the same thing..OH GOD HELP MILAN..i hope he changes his mind.. Do you guys think he reads these posts on milan fan.com?

I'm not expecting anything from this management. Berlusconi doesn't care much about the club anymore and wants to spend very little money. Perhaps he is getting too old for this purpose or he is too occupied with other things or he has lost some of his passion for the club or a combination of all these things. Whatever it may be, he can not to this for long and our star players will either get too old or leave. Our situation is not very clear. Nor is the management's intentions. But I'm not freaking out. I'm waiting this one out patiently. At the end of this transfer window, somethings will become clearer and then I will know what to think.

Guys one the reasons why we want Adebayor is because of his height..AC Milan regretted by not buying Luca Toni..Adebayors height is very advantageous..Not just his height but his physical presence..Also his age is very encouraging..He's good but Milan can mould him to be better...I hope he comes though...

lol yeah okay galliani. Yeah let him keep spewing trash and see how long he lasts. I'm not gonna comment until august 31 but who does he think he is. If silvio and galliani dont care then out they go. Thanks for the history but please enough is enough. If they dont want to spend let someone else take over. If its like this and we end up in say 11th place end of the season i have no doubt galliani/silvio/braida will no longer be a part of milan as a club.

hes a business man and he'll sell it long before it goes down trust me wink.gif. And now he doesnt "own" the club, he has the most shares which could be easily overtaken. See, it comes down to pure politics morgoth. Italy I'm told is the most debt ridden of the bigger European nations. And the economy is in shambles. I mean it's not doing bad, it's not doing at all is what I'm told. And in such cases, when the people are complaining of unemployment and lesser money, the Prime Minister of the country, throwing out 70 million of a personal fortune(who many argue was procured illegally) probably looks bad. Especially, when he's coming in as a man of the people who shall save them from this mess blah blah. So probably those talks of not a cent above 10 million pounds are true. Though I'm inclined to think, that's the price they've set for the striker.

As milanfans, this does not make our situation any better. The condition in Italy is such, that the footballing economy is operating on a loss. After winning the CL, we were the only club to post a profit, and that was 1 million!!! Without, Silvio's money we cannot compete. And it makes no difference if he retires and hands it over to Piersilvio, coz it's still the same bank account. Foreign hands?? Nope..sorry....I'd rather finish fifth, than have Gillete and Hicks play Laurel and Hardy here.

Unless R7 wants to call his old buddy at the DIC.. ;) :P

I'm wondering if I should brace myself for a return to the 70s. :( Not that I'd know what it was like, but hey I have a parallel in Newcastle. I can take it.

sorry jack man i disagree. This is a football club and one of the very best in the world. If silvio does not wish to operate it anymore he should sell it to a foreign billionare so that we do not fall like napoli. Right now football is as such that without money you cannot be great. Players no longer play for shirt alone.
Jack Sparrow
But you see this is to start off with an Italian club. It's not Silvio's personal plaything like in the case of Chelsea. If Roman Abramovich says roll over Chelsea fans and act like a dog...they will. But things are different in Italy.

You know what happened. The fans actually said, they'd rather have Roma the way they are, than see it sold to Soros. It's much more difficult. And there are no families in Italy bigger than Berlusconi when it comes to cash.

Oh and Napoli were declared bankrupt. That's one thing we don't have to worry about. Along with Juve we're the only club doing well financially. Juve coz, they managed to sell all their players for fortunes. And the Elkann family took it as a personal affront, and really bankrolled them. Don't forget Fiat is doing really well nowadays. I'm sure Silvio would do it if the shite truly hit the fan, but till it actually does he'll do nothing.

ade scored the third most goal in england and you guy's are telling me these players are better than him ohmy.gif he scored 30 goals rooney scored 11 berbatov 15 drogba scored 8 or 9 goals if u guys are looking fora player like that then why dont we just keep gila he will score 10-15 goals a year
drogba is a gr8 player but he is getting old
berbatov is gd but he is lazy and would only play at his best when he wishes to
rooney is a gr8 player but he wont score 20-30 goals every year he would not be a 100% scorer
santa cruz is a wonderful player but he gets injured alot and that wont help us at all
kean are crazy or something kean wont be and is not a wc striker he never played cl he didn't even do well at inter
anelka i dont want to even talk about him....he scored only 2 goals for chelsea omg he scored as much as palosochi

Milan stopped beeing Silvios plaything some time ago.
And tbh I don't think the bad economical situation in Italy can be an argument. Silvio was elected Prime Minister besides all the things (don't wanna go into details here) he did as a politician in the last decade. So I'm quite confident some money splashing wouldn't make a difference anyway.

Nope....not a surprise. We need someone....at least a Berbatov. Unless they think, that we'll only compete in Serie A, and basically play by numbers. Technically, our first squad is as present good enough to play well for 38 matches in a season. 1 game a week.

So maybe that's their plan, wait this season out, and then shop the next. But that's just being optimistic. I don't see this happening.

Has Borriello ever performed in Milan? no. we don't know whether he will be able to do that this time. as for Inzaghi, a little injury is enough to kill his goal-scoring instinct. not to mention he needs to be motivated at this age more than ever, and battling for Serie A isn't quite a motivation for someone who has won everything there is to win. right now Pato is our 1st man in attack imo. I'm counting on him to score +20 goals in all competitions next season. but let's face it, both him and Paloschi are too young and inexperienced to lead our attack against Juventus and Inter and Fiorentina and Roma and etc. it's obvious our first squad IS NOT good enough because it lacks a world class striker, not to mention we don't have enough quality in CB and GK, and need a decent backup for Seedorf/Pirlo/Kaka. what if one of them damaged a ligament or something? it's not an impossibility at all and you know if that happened, we'd be in BIG trouble. so... how can you say our first squad is good enough? please clarify it for me. wink.gif
